Black Hills National Forest Custer; Pennington, South Dakota Hell Canyon Ranger District

Tree planting within fire areas where no natural regeneration exists. Tree species will be ponderosa pine which is native to the area and important for wildlife habitat, recreation opportunities, and timber production.

Location

Areas located within Jasper and Sheldon fire areas which burned in August 2000 and 2002.
