Bugtown Gulch Mountain Pine Beetle and Fuels Project

Black Hills National Forest Custer, South Dakota Hell Canyon Ranger District

Reduce the risk for further mountain pine beetle mortality in the project area. This will be accomplished by reducing the brood population by removing bug infested trees, reducing stand density to protect healthy trees and removing created fuels.

Location

Project area is approx 16,000 acres (13,447 NFS) located directly south of the Bear Mt lookout. West boundary is the Jasper fire, east boundary is the Goat project area, south boundary is variable
