Cuchara Hazardous Fuels Reduction

Pike-San Isabel National Forests & Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands Huerfano; Las Animas, Colorado San Carlos Ranger District

Vegetation treatments are proposed on approximately 3,000 acres of National Forest System Lands in the Spanish Peaks area to reduce hazardous fuels, create a more open forest structure & create fuel breaks near private lands and infrastructure.

Location

The project is located in the Spanish Peaks area. Treatment units are located adjacent to the town of Cuchara, south and north of the Spanish Peaks Wilderness Area and near Purgatoire CG.
