Fuels - Aspen Forest Health Project

San Juan National Forest Montezuma, Colorado Mancos/Dolores Ranger District

Proposed timber harvest, hydromowing and Rx burning to regenerate aspen stands. Stands affected by Sudden Aspen Decline will be targeted to regenerate young, disease resistant stands. Dying aspen will be harvested for wood fiber for local mills.

Location

Low to mid-elevation aspen zone . Area includes Caviness Mountain, Echo Basin, Transfer Campground and Haycamp Mesa areas.
