Gila National Forest Grant, New Mexico Silver City Ranger District

Use prescribed fire and hand and mechanical thinning to reduce natural fuels and improve timber stand health and wildlife habitat on 2,402 acres of the Silver City Ranger District. Project would retain large trees, removing ladder fuels and altering the vertical and horizontal continuity of fuels.

Location

Approximately 20 miles south of Silver City in the Burro Mountains southwest of Oak Grove subdivision, south of Red Rock Road, and west of Forest Ridge Road. T19S, R16W, Sections 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29, 32, 33, and 34.
