National Forests in Florida Leon; Liberty; Wakulla, Florida Apalachicola Ranger District

This project proposes to use chain saws, brush cutters, and hand tools to thin under- and mid-story hardwood vegetation from frosted flatwoods salamander and striped newt breeding habitat. Herbicide would be used selectively to reduce re-sprouting.

Location

This project will occur across the Apalachicola National Forest on isolated wetlands identified as potential frosted flatwoods salamander or striped newt habitat
