Shoshone National Forest — Project Detail

To prevent further damage to Cultural, Riparian, and Upland Habitat, the Forest Service is proposing to alter the Hugh Otte recreation site configuration, contain use to designated areas, rehabilitate needless ground disturbance, and install engineered controls.

Three existing recreation site restroom facilities will be demolished and replaced with new restroom facilities. The existing restroom facilities are outdated and in dilapidated condition.

The Nature Conservancy, a USFS administered rangeland permittee proposes to install a virtual cattle allotment fence in part on USFS administered lands. The intent of the virtual fence is to have greater control over how cattle utilize the landscape.

Proposal to re-align existing administrative use road FSR 961 to ensure safe and reliable access to Windy Ridge Communication Site infrastructure.

The intent of this project is to construct a new trail. The trail will be a continuation of an already constructed trail on the immediately adjacent state park. User created trails in the area will either be decommissioned or adopted as system trails

The SNF is proposing to authorize the WGFD to expand their bighorn sheep test and remove program to the eastern segment of the Whiskey Mountain herd, located, in part, within the Fitzpatrick Wilderness for a period of 5 years.

Increase the resiliency of forest landscapes and communities to wildfire, decrease the impacts of wildfires within the wildland urban interface, and allow for an effective and safe response to wildfires when they occur.

The Forest is proposing the construction of three boat launch sites to improve recreation opportunities, increase the safety of put-in/take-out sites, minimize impacts to hydrology resources, and protect cultural resources.

The proposed activities of the project would include a combination of fuels reduction and mitigation work (cut/pile/burn), aspen enhancement, removal of dead/dying timber, and improvement of defensible space adjacent to values-at-risk.

Proposed project to treat areas along federal highway 212 in the Clarks Fork District with a combination of vegetation management prescriptions including sanitation salvage, shelterwood/seed tree harvest prescription, and other methods.

Proposal to develop a year-round spring with associated infrastructure.

This is a proposed long term solution for bank stabilization on Sunlight Creek where it intersects with FSR 101.2A (7D Rd). 200 linear feet of bank will be stabilized using large woody debris and historic gravel will be replaced.

Proposed developments at Sleeping Giant Ski Area, including a zip line and a snow tubing area.
