Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest — Project Detail

The purpose and need of the project is to respond to Brigham City’s request to relocate a portion of transmission line from private land onto National Forest System Lands.

The Forest Service proposes using a combination of vegetation, fuels, and restoration activities to improve ecosystem conditions and reduce risk of uncharacteristic wildfire and associated adverse effects to the watershed within the Big Cottonwood Canyon drainage and tributaries.

Project would construct and maintain toilets in the Grizzly Gulch area. Toilets would be constructed and maintained by Alta Ski Area.

Project would approve a special use authorization for construction of a short access road to a private inholding.

This project is an evaluation of the effects of continued domestic sheep grazing in the High Uintas Wilderness, including five sheep allotments on the Ashley NF and five sheep allotments on the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache NF.

The Forest Service is considering a proposal to realign FR093 to improve stream and riparian habitat. Project would affect High Uintas Inventoried Roadless Area for 1.4ac. (0.7ac restoration, 0.7ac realigned roadway)

Improve ecosystem resilience to risk of uncharacteristic wildfire and declining ecosystem conditions and associated effects via 2,375 acres of treatments within a 14,909 acre project area in American Fork Canyon.

Project would restore watershed resiliency and improve vegetation conditions within the Soapstone Landscape. Across the 36,417 acre project area, the Forest Service proposes approximately 13,624 acres of treatments.

Restore wildlife and avian habitat on approximately 527-acres via timber harvest and 4818-acres via fuels treatments(Rx-fire). Timber and Fuels treatments overlap. Only prescribed fire in roadless areas, no vegetation cutting or timber in roadless.

Project would issue a special use permits to conduct a geotechnical exploration near the mouth of Neff's Canyon.

Project would reconstruct existing Smithfield Waterline within a right-of-way(road and road prism)

Proposed project would expand the existing Soapstone Trailhead to improve visitor use and safety

Project would expand existing Yellow Pine Trailhead parking to better meet visitor needs and improve safety.

The Forest Service is considering a proposal to analyze reconstruction, replacement, relocation, and installation of utility lines in disturbed areas in a programmatic environmental analysis.

The Forest Service proposes to use ecologically appropriate native plant materials to plant/seed disturbed areas that are either not anticipated to recover independently or are following undesirable trajectories with the goal of restoring ecosystems

Road improvements for safety in Mill Creek Canyon. Cooperating Agency with Federal Highways Administration. Forest Service would make decision on new easement and proposed work outside of easement(trailhead work, temporary construction permit etc.)

Project would reduce safety concerns by expanding water distribution off of FS Road 042 in the Streeper Creek South Alloemtn.

Proposed Action would complete vegetation and fuels management activities across a 34,056 acre landscape to reduce potential wildfire effects and improve ecosystem conditions in the upper Weber River watershed.

Proposed action would install two water developments, three corrals, and 950-feet of fence to improve livestock distribution and concentration and reduce potential impacts to resources over three allotments on the Spanish Fork Ranger District.

Alta proposes to close most south-side roadside parking along SR-210 between Rustler Lodge and Alta Bypass Road, and to replace the lost parking through adjustments to the Wildcat parking lot.

The Forest Service is considering amending its land management plans to address new and evolving issues arising since implementing sage-grouse plans in 2015. This project is in cooperation with the USDI Bureau of Land Management.

Proposed project is to issue the Draper City Half Marathon in Corner Canyon, and the BCC Flea Market at the Brighton Resort Parking lot new 5-year term, recreation event permits.

Proposed project would reissue race permits for a 5-year duration at/near Brighton and Solitude ski areas.

Proposed project is to reduce fuel loading over 2-acres of NFS lands along Seymour Canyon road to improve safety and reduce risk of uncharacteristic wildfire to public and private lands. Project would occur in a roadless area.

Dam rehabilitation includes reconstructing spillways, removing clogged outlet pipes and replacing with properly sized conduits, installing drain systems, and buttressing existing structures to prevent movement or failure during seismic events.

Proposal to provide access to the recently approved Bonneville Shoreline Trail in Davis County.

Proposal from Utah Abandoned Mine Reclamation Program to close 28 abandoned hard rock mines with 8 mines closed in Wilderness and 20 mines closed outside of Wilderness areas.

Amend existing WPG 10-year priority use permit to include 100 service days on the EMVRD based on WPG's acquisition of Cloudveil Mountain Heli.

pPoposal to construct a new entrance sign, reconstruction of a natural stone retaining wall, and to reconstruct a barrier fence between the Bear Canyon trailhead and entrance to trail.

Proposal to construct a new pavilion in a wooded area about 300 yards behind the main road and entrance of the camp.

Proposal to remove dead trees along the Mirror Lake Highway from mile marker 6 of HKRD to mile marker 49 of EVMRD. Treatments would occur 150 ft on either side of the MLH and access routes to campgrounds, trailheads, lake shores, day use facilities.

Proposal to remove hazard trees with a ten-foot zone around a CCC cabin, including trees that are contacting or that otherwise pose a danger to the cabin%u2019s structural and/or historic integrity and defensible space around the structure.

The purpose of the action is to respond to a request from Nordic United to expand its winter Nordic skiing grooming activities to the Swan Flat area north of U.S. Hwy 89.
