Wayne National Forest — Project Detail

Evaluate mechanical, chemical, and biological treatment methods for non-native invasive plants. This project would allow for treatments to occur across the National Forest and in partnership with adjacent, interested land managers or owners.

This project will add woody structure to lakes and ponds throughout the Ironton district by shoreline tree felling, Christmas tree drops, and fish cribs to enhance aquatic habitat. Tree girdling for Osprey habitat and fish stocking with desired species will also occur in this project.

This project would increase forest resiliency and restore native mixed hardwood forests by harvesting about 515 acres of planted pine in the Ironton District. https://usfs-public.app.box.com/s/hz0eltj7xumyzw8i08warmhfbm6i15nb

This Supplemental EA provides additional information and analysis around criteria for the shelterwood harvests in light of a deficiency in the original project that was identified by District Court.
