Coronado National Forest Cochise; Hidalgo, Arizona; New Mexico Douglas Ranger District

Ecosystem restoration treatments including prescribed fire, prescribed cutting (hand thinning, mechanical treatment), selective herbicide use, and watershed improvement (erosion control, planting, seeding, reforestation) on approximately 85,129 acres in the Peloncillo Mountains.

Location

The Peloncillo Mountains stretch approximately 70 miles from the US-Mexico border north to the Gila River. The project area straddles the Arizona-New Mexico border, with 81% arranged in New Mexico.
