Trout Fire Forest Recovery and Timber Salvage Project

The Gila National Forest proposes to remove standing dead trees through a timber salvage operation on National Forest System lands within the perimeter of the 2025 Trout Fire on 83 acres of the Silver City Ranger District in an IRA —where existing forest roads provide public access.

Location

Salvage units are in areas of heavy tree mortality on ridgetops and gently sloping terrain east of Trout Creek and west of Meadow Creek along New Mexico Highway 15.
