2026 Reforestation Planting

Gila National Forest Catron, New Mexico Reserve Ranger District

Plant ponderosa pine seedlings as part of reforestation efforts following the Turkeyfeather (2025), School (2016), and Bear (2006) fires on the Reserve Ranger District, in order to kickstart regeneration of ponderosa pine forest with intermixed grassland where few mature seed trees now remain.

Location

The project is located in Catron County, NM, near the Willow Creek and Snow Lake area, approximately 21 miles south of Reserve, New Mexico, in T10S, R17W, Sections 15, 16, 21, and 22.
