Hahns Peak/ Bears Ears RD Precommercial Thinning

Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests & Thunder Basin National Grassland Routt, Colorado Hahns Peak/Bears Ears Ranger District

Using chainsaws, thin overstocked, naturally regenerated harvest units totaling approximately 220 acres. Precommercial thinning would occur in stands dominated by lodgepole pine saplings.

Location

Treatment is proposed in six previous timber sale areas, all located north of Steamboat Springs, CO, on the Hahns Peak/Bears Ears R.D., from the Seedhouse Road to the Wyoming state line.
