NRCS Training Program - Soil Test Pits

Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests & Thunder Basin National Grassland Albany, Wyoming Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest All Units

NRCS to dig 6 soil test pits as a training exercise to study soil profiles. Pits are all located on Pole Mountain. Pit dimensions are 6 ft deep x 70 in long x 30 in wide. Excavated soil will be replaced in pit upon completion. Pits will be hand-dug.

Location

All 6 pits to be in the north-central area of the Pole Mountain unit of the Laramie District just off of Forest Road 702.B. Three pits to be north of the road, and three pits to be south of the road.
