*Spruce Lakes dead tree mitigation

Rio Grande National Forest Mineral, Colorado Divide Ranger District

Use certified blasters to fell dead trees within 3/4 of a tree length around the Spruce Lakes in the Weminuche Wilderness to mitigate the potential for the spillways to clog and minimize the threat of the dams overtopping and failing.

Location

Spruce Lakes in the Weminuche Wilderness, 7 miles north of Wolf Creek Pass.
