Alamitos Fish Barrier Project

Carson National Forest Taos, New Mexico Camino Real Ranger District

Construct two low water crossings that also serve as fish barriers along Forest Road 161C. This would protect a core conservation population of Rio Grande cutthroat trout (RGCT) by preventing non-native trout from migrating into a known RGCT area.

Location

Alamitos Creek, a tributary of the Rio Pueblo, approximately 8 miles southeast of the village of Sipapu.
