Herman Creek Horse Camp Safety and Vegetation Treatment

Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area Hood River, Oregon Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area Unit

Herman Creek Horse Camp was closed in 2014 because of concerns about laminated root rot and public safety. The proposed action would remove infected and potentially infected trees and revegetate the treated area with resistant, native tree species.

Location

Herman Creek Horse Camp is located in Hood River County near Cascade Locks. The camp provides access to the Mark O. Hatfield Wilderness, Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail, and other area trails.
