In August 2020, a derecho (blowdown) occurred across ERFL. Significant timber damage occurred leaving many trees damaged. This created a safety and fuels concern; the impacted trees need to removed as quickly as possible to reduce those risks.

Huff Creek area in Forest County, Morgan lake area in Florence County, and Lac Vieux Desert area in Vilas county.
