Hiawatha National Forest Chippewa, Michigan Sault Ste. Marie Ranger District

Manage natural resources to restore ecological conditions of a fire-dependent sand-plain. Adaptive management will be used to harvest and regenerate trees, manage fuels and improve habitat for fire-adapted species like Kirtland's warbler.

Location

Raco Sand Plains area in north central part of the Eastern Administrative Unit of the Hiawatha National Forest.
