Reeds Creek American Chestnut Planting

Monongahela National Forest Pendleton, West Virginia Potomac Ranger District

Plant about 550 blight-resistant American chestnuts in a stand clearcut in 1994, in a 3-acre area that failed to regenerate, primarily because of deer browsing. Protective measures will be taken to preven damage to the chestnuts and seedlings.

Location

Southwest of Upper Tract; east of Reeds Creek and State Road 8; north of FR 885. In Stand 24 of Compartment 62.
