Red Pine Thinning Project

Ottawa National Forest Baraga; Gogebic; Houghton; Iron; Ontonagon, Michigan Ottawa National Forest All Units

14,700 acres of red pine plantation thinning to maintain health and quality; maximize optimal growth rates; address insect and disease factors; and provide long-term source of timber products. Transportation refinements would facilitate harvest.

Location

The project area includes several plantation stands, and groups of plantations, across the Iron River, Kenton, Ontonagon and Watersmeet Ranger Districts.
