Spruce and Fir Decline Fuels Management Project

Ottawa National Forest Gogebic; Iron, Michigan Iron River Ranger District

An outbreak of spruce budworm in recent years has caused extensive mortality and fuels buildup. The most affected areas are in stands of balsam fir and spruce. Project proposes activities to restore areas via forest restoration and fuels reduction.
