The BLM will lead preparation of an EIS to analyze potential impacts of issuing a preference right lease application and mine plan for an underground copper-nickel mine. Forest Plan amendment and special use permit may be needed.

Location

The proposed activities would occur approximately 10 miles southeast of Ely, MN, South of State Highway 1, in an area southeast of the South Kawishiwi River.
