2013 Ketchikan-Misty Fiords Ranger District (KMRD) Experimental Cedar Planting

Tongass National Forest Ketchikan Gateway, Alaska Ketchikan Misty Fjords Ranger District

Hand plant 3,000 red and yellow-cedar seedlings, at a density of 1,200 trees per acre, on 3 acres of previously harvested timber stands. The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of browse protection measures on planted cedar.

Location

Planting units are all part of the Boundary II Timber Sale (Brown Mountain Road) northeast of the Ward Lake Recreational Area, approximately 9.5 miles from Ketchikan, AK, on Revillagigedo Is.
