Repairs to Eight Fathom Cabin including roof replacement, moving pit toilet to new location, install no motor vehicle signs, and replacing mooring buoy. Cabin is located on Chichagof Island in Port Frederick on FS road 8577.

Allocate a portion of the total visitor capacity (commercial and non-commercial use) in the Angoon bays area (project area) to Outfitter and Guide use.

Proposal to harvest about 87 million board ft (MMBF) of young-growth timber from 4,232 ac and 7 MMBF of old-growth timber from 314 ac within Staney Basin on POW. Also, timber stand improvement activities for timber, riparian, wildlife benefits.

Installation of five wooden totems at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center in developed areas. Totems would be as tall as 50 feet with concrete footings up to 6 feet in diameter. The totems would represent several Tlingit and Haida clans.

Proposal to establish 5 temporary storage and stockpile sites on National Forest System land in support of the Neck Lake Rd reconstruction project. Site areas total about 3.25 acres. Materials and improvements would be removed upon permit expiration.

Proposal to authorize surface mineral exploration for up to 1 year at mining claims near Herbert Glacier. Eight drill sites are proposed. All infrastructure would be removed from the site when drilling is complete.

Request from the US Border Patrol for a 10-year special use permit to install and maintain cameras to monitor vessels entering and exiting the Taku Inlet.

Proposal to convert a developed campsite within the Yakutat Beach Recreation Area into a public use recreation cabin site.

Federal Aviation Administration has requested to reconstruct and/or replace the VHF Omni-directional Range (VOR) counterpoise on Level Island. The design would be the same as the current structure.

Manage outhouse contents at the Sarkar Lake, Red Bay Lake, Kegan Creek, Kegan Cove, and Control Lake public use cabins by pumping waste into new pits at least 100 feet from a water source. Pits would be reused in the future, if needed.

Project area is approximately 48 acres, with treatments on approximately 20 acres of young-growth forest around Twelvemile Arm. Decommissioned roads may be reopened to facilitate access.

Harvest of young-growth stands to achieve multiple management objectives, including providing logs for stream restoration, improving wildlife habitat, improving timber stand health, and offering micro-sale opportunities.

Harvest up to 8 old-growth trees within 300 feet of a National Forest System road. Trees would be used to construct a temporary log culvert stream crossing. After the structure is removed, the logs would be available to the public for purchase.

Silvicultural treatment of young-growth stands to achieve various management objectives such as altering wildlife habitats and patterns of use, improving riparian area health, improving climate resiliency, and promoting timber production.

Final rule repeals the 2020 Alaska Roadless Rule, reinstating application of 2001 Roadless Rule on the Tongass NF. A Determination of NEPA Adequacy was completed to utilize Final Environmental Impact Statement for 2020 Alaska Roadless Rule.

Remove existing outhouse and replace with a new one that includes a removable basket system and a leach field. Materials would be brought to and from the site by boat via salt water. Materials would be hand carried on site (no mechanical equipment).

Applicant is proposing a 900-foot extension of four-inch diameter high-density polyethylene above ground water transmission pipeline on National Forest System lands to serve private property at Gull Cove, Idaho Inlet.

The Big Thorne EIS is a multi-year timber sale component of a larger stewardship effort which will include restoration and enhancement stewardship activities that will be identified through other environmental analyses.

Proposal to authorize HECLA Greens Creek Mining Company to explore for mineral deposits, including silver, zinc, lead and gold rich volcanogenic massive sulfide mineralization for up to 1 year at the Greens Creek Mine on Admiralty Island.

The Sitka Ranger District proposes Harbor Mountain Recreation Area improvements, including constructing a public use rental cabin. Cabin with deck, outhouse & picnic site and well as access routes are proposed.

The proposed silvicultural treatments include individual tree selection or small groups of trees (uneven-aged management) retaining 60-70% of the residual stand basal area.

Place about 150 trees within the stream channel, along stream banks and within the 88-acre floodplain of Muri Creek to reduce erosion and improve fish habitat. Implementation would use heavy equipment on approximately 1,200 feet of stream channel.

Use heavy equipment to remove a 5-foot-high, 70-meter-long dam made of metal sheet piling and about 0.5 acres of Hypalon lining to restore the intertidal area to its pre-project condition.

Repair gabion basket on the north end of Moraine Lake. As designed, the basket does not support trail traffic and is a safety hazard for hikers and bicyclists. Also, harden a 0.34-mile user-created trail on the Dredge Lake trail system.

Reconstruct the first 2 miles of the Rainbow Falls Trail, from Zimovia Hwy to Shoemaker Overlook spur trail (convert from boardwalk to an aggregate and stone surface). Plans also include viewing platforms.

Proposal includes instream and riparian restoration on approx 0.6 mi of S Fork Saginaw Ck and up to 0.4 mi of Shorty Ck on Kuiu Is. These streams support populations of pink, chum and coho salmon, and steelhead, cutthroat trout and Dolly Varden char.

The USDA Forest Service proposes to treat up to approximately 20,000 acres of young-growth conifer stands. Stands proposed for treatment have been identified across Prince of Wales Island and on the Suemez, Heceta, Marble, and Orr outer islands.

Replace corroding metal brackets in the lower corners of the A-frame cabin and in the concrete footings that support the cabin's main beams. All materials would transported to the cabin by floatplane, helicopter or boat.

Remove a single young-growth tree (the Christmas Tree) using a crane and excavator. The tree's root wad would remain attached. Minor road grading and widening at the harvest site is anticipated.

Construct an open-sided 12- by 24-foot timber framed shelter on an existing asphalt pad for public use.

Construct a single-story 1,200 sq ft house on the same footprint as the previous structure to reestablish temporary living space for FAA personnel who are supporting the maintenance of National Airspace System equipment on Level Island.

Consolidate Forest Service office and work center functions in Petersburg. Proposal includes updating interior of downtown office to accommodate more office workspace and converting Scow Bay site to shop/storage facility with overflow office space.

Proposal to use a rock pit on NFS lands twice a year to re-fuel generators that power the Etolin-Burnett Peak Communication Site and the helicopter that transports the generators. Diesel/jet fuel would be at the rock pit only while actively fueling.

Proposal to authorize commercial harvest of approximately 54 music wood-quality live spruce trees, 4 live hemlock trees, 5 dead hemlock trees and 6 dead red cedar trees. Removal to existing roads via helicopter and ground-based logging systems.

Proposal to develop a strip of land on the edge of the Harris Building National Forest System administrative site (about 0.07 acre) to connect to an adjacent private lot that will provide additional parking area for employee and government vehicles.

Proposal to replace the existing Harvey Lake Cabin foundation, and remove and rebuild the deck. Harvey Lake Cabin is a Forest Service public use cabin. Proposed work would be in partnership with the Petersburg Indian Association.

Southern SE Regional Aquaculture Assoc. requests authorization to use ATVs on Blind River Rapids Trail and a portion of its parking lot to manually transport adult king salmon from the Rapids to Crystal Lake Hatchery to improve salmon recruitment.

Salvage harvest approximately 20 to 30 uprooted trees from the base of a landslide on Beaver Falls Road. Less than 10 green trees may be harvested for safety and improved operations. Log landing area may be improved to create space to load trucks.

Authorize a Special Use Permit to install and maintain approximately 1,000 feet of 2 inch polypropylene waterline to serve a private residence near the mouth of Idaho Inlet.

Proposal to approve an application for Transportation & Utility Systems & Facilities for NFS road access, construction, and/or reconstruction on NFS lands (1.97 acres) on Prince of Wales Island near the community of Thorne Bay.

Determine if outfitting and guiding services could be authorized on National Forest System lands on the Sitka Ranger District accessed by interior lakes on Baranof and Chichagof Islands using fixed-wing aircraft.

Reconstruct and widen the first 1.45 miles of Amalga Trail using native gravel and imported aggregate and incorporate rest areas along the trail. Construct a 65- to 70- foot bridge across Boulder Creek.

Authorize the installation, operation, and maintenance of fiber optic cable on existing utility poles along sections of the Klawock-Hollis Highway that cross NFS land (up to 7 miles), between Hollis and Klawock. No ground disturbance proposed.

Southeast Roadbuilders is seeking authorization to occupy 1.5 acres of the Thorne Bay sort yard with a rock crusher, support equipment, and storage of 3,800 cubic yards of crushed material. Stockpiled material would be present on site up to 10 yrs.

The POWLLA Project will be an integrated analysis combining timber sale, watershed and stream restoration/improvement, recreation, wildlife habitat, and transportation components into one document, with 10 to 15 years' worth of projects.

Replace two administrative cabins used for the Maybeso Experimental Forest in Hollis, AK. Two new cabins will be developed in the footprint of two existing administrative cabins.

Proposal to supply about 19 million board feet of young-growth timber from 800 acres, reconstruct temp rds, maintain NFS rds and evaluate potential terrestrial and/or aquatic habitat restoration and improvement activities in or near the project area.

Proposal to decommission and remove Anan Lake public use cabin at Anan Lake by dismantling and burning burnable material on site. Non-burnables would be removed by helicopter. Cabin would be replaced by construction of Highbush Cabin on Wrangell Is.

On Mitkof Island, AP&T Wireless Inc proposes to install a powerline and fiber optic cable along the ground from the Crystal Mtn Comm Site to the switch yard at the Crystal Lk powerhouse. The powerline and cable would cross about 9,500' of NFS land.

Proposal to identify and analyze new cabin sites accessible by vehicle or boat in areas not already developed for recreation on the Petersburg and Wrangell Ranger Districts. Site identification includes a collaborative public process.

Construct a cabin with young growth and access trail in the Sal Creek area.

Improve a 3.08-mile section of the Treadwell Ditch Trail that runs from Emerson Spur Trail to the Eaglecrest Ski Area. The finished gravel trail would be 24 inches wide. Bridges would be up to 5 feet wide. No proposed changes to the existing route.

Proposal to construct a picnic shelter at the Earl West Recreation Site at the log transfer facility (LTF).

Propose to construct a public use cabin at Highbush Lake on Wrangell Island. This cabin would replace the proposed decommission of the Anan Lake Cabin with another lake setting cabin to meet the intent of the Tongass Sustainable Cabin Strategy.

Construct a new public use recreation cabin on the Wrangell Island Road System at Turn Island Overlook.

Proposal to approve 4 group campsites near the shoreline of Little Duncan Bay for 5 weeks. Up to 32 overnight users (campers and support/film crew) would be on site. Proposal includes cutting dead trees for firewood, and building rafts and shelters.

Removal of trees 150 feet from Shelter Cove Road centerline south in AK State DOT Sec 4407 ROW easement between Salt Creek bridge and junction of Coon Cove Road, about 2 miles of road.

Clear up to 3 acres of trees from a ridge on Kupreanof Island near the Gunnuk Communication Site to provide a clear signal path to another tower on the mainland (Mt Fanshaw). Felling would be done by hand with cut trees likely left on site.

The proposed action will include construction of a public recreation cabin and other actions and developments from the Ward Lake Recreation Area Master Plan that is currently in development.

Replace and relocate existing outhouse by Deer Mountain Shelter. New outhouse would use removable containers that would be swapped out by helicopter when full. New design is expected to reduce the risk of spills and environmental contamination.

Bridge repairs and trail reconstruction on Lunch Creek Trail to reduce trail flooding and protect wetland areas. Work includes handrail replacements, culvert installation, trail tread conversion to boardwalk and step-and-run.

Propose to create a 225 sq ft gravel pad with a picnic table and metal fire ring at Point Louisa Beach. Also propose to gravel 670 ft of an unimproved trail along the peninsula to eliminate muddy areas and avoid resource damage.

Request to continue to store explosive elements used in road building and other construction purposes on National Forest Service lands.

Proposal for an updated/alternative source of instream wood for the Skanaxheen Creek Restoration project. Includes harvesting about 200 young-growth trees adjacent to NFS road 6402 and 3 closed spur roads on Kuiu Island near Shorty Creek.

Proposal to authorize storage of commercial crab pots and associated gear (lines, buoys, etc.) along the shore of Farragut Bay in two locations - 50 pots at the western site and 250 pots at the eastern site.

At Sprout Ck remove abandoned weir/dam and implemt instream restoration within the lower 450 m. Activities include felling trees w/chainsaw, and placing logs w/gas powered handwinch and handtools. Native plant restoration along spur rd N of 8000470.

We aim to strike a balance between subsistence use resources, wilderness resources, tourism, and the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (ANILCA), Section 506 (a)(3)(E). We propose allocating 2388 service days to outfitters and guides.

The Forest Service requested 4,560 acres of National Forest System lands near the Mendenhall Glacier be withdrawn from mineral exploration and development. An EA will be prepared to inform the Secretary of Interior's decision.

Reconstruct 0.3 miles of the historic Ship Cove hiking trail located on southern Baranof Island. Much of the route is in poor condition. Reconstruction would address ongoing resource damage and deferred maintenance needs.

Restore fish passage across roads fragmenting fish habitats on the Tongass National Forest. Anticipated actions include culvert replacements and structure removals to restore the natural flow regime and provide unimpeded fish passage.

Commercial salvage of one standing dead yellow cedar for special forest products.

The Proposed exploration activities include diamond core drilling, geologic mapping, geochemical sampling (from the surface and shallow trenched) at eight locations. There will be up to 30,000 linear feet drilled.

Authorize use of the Portage Bay FS Admin facility by the Organized Village of Kake as a Cultural Healing/Rehabilitation Center from April through Oct on a recurring basis. Activities could include gathering, hunting, fishing, some tree cutting, etc.

The proposed project would authorize commercial salvage timber harvest of dead or downed trees resulting from natural causes, and timber harvest where salvage harvest and/or green tree harvest is compatible with the Land Use Designations (LUDs).

Improve approximately 1.38 miles of the Treadwell Ditch Trail between the Bonnie Brae intersection and the Emerson Spur Trail. Includes installing 5 new bridges to restore access through eroded trail sections and adding gravel to the trail surface.

Construct a new public use recreation cabin on the Wrangell Island road system near the Long Lake Trailhead.

Blackwolf Copper and Gold Ltd. is proposing helicopter-supported diamond core drilling, geologic mapping and geochemical sampling on their Texas Creek, Cantoo, and Casey Federal mining claims near Hyder, Alaska.

Request for Special Use Permit for installation, operation and removal of two 10-meter tall meteorological towers to gather data on wind resources to explore the possibility of developing a renewable wind energy project.

Proposal to expand the permitted and managed season at Pack Creek from 4/15 to 9/30 and limit visitation to 24 people/day. It will authorize a maximum of 50% commercially guided persons, including guides, and 50% unguided during the managed season.

Removal of 5,000 pounds of fossiliferous limestone and or marble rock to be used for sculpting.

Cordova telecom cooperative proposes to install fiber cable to provide for improved bandwidth and speeds for the Yakutat service area.

The Tongass National Forest proposes to supply approximately 1 million board feet (MMBF) of young-growth timber from about 43 acres and construct temporary roads in the Falls Creek area of Mitkof Island on the Petersburg Ranger District.

Proposal to replace the Berg Bay public use recreation cabin and improve the site for better visitor access.

Proposal to restore and improve fish habitat and hydrologic function at two sites on the Yakutat Ranger District by removing abandoned culverts, adding large wood to ditched stream channels, and removing fill from the floodplain.

Proposal to reroute the steep Gavan Hill section of the Harbor Mountain/Gavan Hill trail (1.5 miles) to a more gradual gradient (2.1 miles). The rerouted section will be primarily gravel with pre-formed concrete steps.

Authorize a Special Use Permit to install and maintain approximately 6,000 feet of waterline to serve a private residence in Gull Cove near the mouth of Idaho Inlet, Chichagof Island, Alaska.

Tanis Mesa cabin is not on a suitable foundation and the floor joists are rotting. To fix the unsafe conditions, the district would replace this cabin

Situk River Corridor Trail from 9-Mile Bridge Trailhead to the confluence with the 10-Mile Bog ATV Trail needs to be realigned. This is a user made trail, and the 10-Mile Bog drains into the Situk River near the lower part of this trail.

Proposal to increase invasive plant management activities within the Wrangell and Petersburg Ranger Districts. Proposal includes no annual treatment limit, treatment of emergent vegetation, and herbicide, manual and mechanical treatment tools.

Salvage of dead/hazard trees for commercial use on less than 2 acres. No new roads will be constructed.

Proposal to authorize a special use permit to install and maintain 44 foot communication tower to provide internet services to customers in Pelican, Elfin Cove, Hoonah and Gustavus areas. Cancelled due to lack of information from proponent

Niblack is planning a helicopter-supported 2021 exploration program consisting of: 1) ground-based geophysical survey, and 2) soil sample-based geochemical prospecting.

The 2022 fieldwork will consist of surface exploration drilling, geologic mapping, rock sampling, and water sampling.

Two undersized culverts will be replaced with aquatic organism passages(AOPs) which are structures that reconnect upstream habitat for aquatic organisms and improve the watershed and roads by being designed to accommodate the stream's natural flows.

Coeur Alaska has proposed an expansion of their tailings and waste rock storage facilities at the Kensington Gold Mine located near Berners Bay on the Juneau Ranger District of the Tongass National Forest.

Propose issuance of free use and small sale mineral material permits for up to 1,000 tons (approx 700 cubic yds), with stipulations, from expansion of an existing (1 acre) borrow pit along NFS road 6256 of the Thomas Bay road system for 10 years.

Precommercially thin up to 15,000 acres over the next 2 to 5 years.

Proposal to replace existing Goat Lake Hydro submarine power distribution cable system on NFS land. Existing cable would be left in place, and a new cable would run about 15 meters north of existing cable. Disturbance would be less than 1 acre.

The Hoonah Ranger District is proposing to set a 20 percent allocation for road-based nature touring and freshwater fishing and to upgrade the maintenance level of 11.08 miles of National Forest System roads.

UCore/Aurora Geosciences proposes to cut and sample approximately fifty channel samples, and collect two bulk samples via drill/blast techniques.

The activity for the Agnico Eagle 2022 Helm Bay mineral exploration project includes diamond core drilling at up to 23 drill sites

Juneau Ranger District has received a five-year surface exploration Plan of Operations from Coeur Alaska for mineral exploration on the Tongass National Forest.

Admiralty Island National Monument has received a five-year surface exploration Plan of Operations from Hecla Greens Creek Mining Company for mineral exploration activities on the Tongass National Forest.

Continue authorizing mountain top communication use on National Forest System land for the next 30 years (CY 2022-2051). No changes to the existing communication use and the support facilities are expected.

AP&T seeks a special use authorization to run a high-speed internet fiber optic cable across Mitkof Island under USDA Rural Development Agency CE category - 7CFR1970.54(b)(4).

Continue authorizing a domestic water supply system on National Forest System land which serves a private cabin not on National Forest System land for the next 30 years (CY 2022-2051).

Harvest a total of 30 trees with rootwads attached from 2 sites along National Forest System rds on Mitkof Island to supplement wood requirements described in the East Ohmer Stream Restoration EA. All but 1 tree are hemlock between 17" and 39" DBH.

Silvicultural treatment of young-growth stands to achieve various management objectives such as altering wildlife habitats and patterns of use, improving riparian area health, and promoting timber production.

Proposal to reconstruct a 0.3 mile section of the Crane Lake Trail. Work would include replacing existing boardwalk with a gravel trail that is at least 29 inches wide. Bridges and drainage structures along this stretch would be rebuilt as needed.

Replace existing 8-foot by 12-foot 3-sided Adirondack-style shelter with a larger 3-sided shelter in the same location.

Propose to reconstruct the Ohmer Creek floating bridge. The bridge connects two sections of the Ohmer Creek Trail that are separated by an active beaver pond.

WRD proposes to decommission the existing gravel path along the road that is between the parking area and the boardwalk trail and replace it with a trail that leads directly from the parking lot to the existing boardwalk trail.

The proposed action is to excavate the existing causeway to a different grade that would create a graded ramp eliminate potential of the sheetpile wall failing and losing fill material into navigable waters.

The City of Angoon is proposing to reconstruct 1/2 mile of the Danger Point Trail in or near its current location. Although not located on National Forest System land, this project is subject to NEPA since it will be implemented with federal funds

The CT Project will consider potential young- and old-growth timber harvest, opportunities for sustainable recreation, watershed restoration, fish/wildlife habitat improvements and other forest management activities of local community interest.

Thinning and pruning for stand improvement, forest health, and wildlife benefit in previously harvested project areas district wide. Approximately 3,612 acres.

The Wrangell District Ranger would continue to authorize Zarembo Mineral's exploration of mineral lode deposit including surface reconnaissance and surface drilling by a Plan of Operation from August 1, 2021 to July 31, 2022.

Propose to reconstruct the 0.3 mile Cathedral Falls Trail with aggregate surfacing, concrete steps, retaining logs and drainage improvements.

Road improvements on NFS roads 8530 and 8576. Enlarge parking area at Bear Paw Lake Picnic Area trailhead on NFS road 8508. Install boulders at trailhead to prevent ATV use, and replace boardwalk trail with gravel at Wukuklook Trail on NFS road 8530.

The Thorne Bay RD proposes to authorize Columbia River Carbonates to improve about 1,050 feet of decommissioned logging road on NFS lands to access their private property. Authorization would occur through a temporary special use permit.

Proposal to provide opportunities for personal or commercial firewood and individual tree sale areas. Proposal includes a programmatic review of the existing road system to identify individual green tree opportunities as requested from the public.

Grande Portage Resources Ltd, submitted a plan of operations for surface exploration that consists of diamond core drilling, mapping, and geochemical sampling.

Two drill sites, Minor trail building - 325 feet by 13 feet, and one water intake source

Alsek River Adventures proposes to remove the existing improvements, 850 sq ft, and construct new facilities, 1600 sq ft, including flush toilets, showers, laundry, pump house, generator shed, kitchen, and bunkhouses with a boardwalk connecting them.

To restore and enhance aquatic and recreational resources, OHV, hiking, and biking trails will be repaired or built; a stream channel and fish structures will be reconstructed, and construction of one or two shelters along the trails is proposed.

This proposal would allow up to 70 acres of harvest within 500 feet of existing roads on the Tonka Road System on Kupreanof Island. Harvest would include green trees using uneven-aged management and may include the removal of dead and dying trees.

This project would improve browsing habitat for moose on the Yakutat Forelands. Moose habitat is declining as natural succession occurs. Vegetation would be cleared by hand crews and/or heavy machinery to allow for young nutritional growth.

Continue authorization of 14 cabins for the next 5 years. 12 are private cabins used for personal recreation and subsistence activities; 2 are government owned research cabins. All are within the Stikine-LeConte Wilderness.

This is a surface mineral exploration program. Exploration activities include diamond core drilling, detailed geologic mapping, ground surveying, geochemical sampling (rocks, soils, and stream silts), and ground-based geophysics.

Removal of a culvert using hand tools on a tributary of Michael Creek in the Lake Florence watershed of Admiralty Island

Removal of fishpass structure on upper Suntaheen Creek and excavate jump pools on North Fork of Game Creek on the Hoonah Ranger District.

Prevent loss of the sensitive dune tansy population by pruning nearby woody vegetation at North and Cuvucan beaches, and by translocating imperiled dune tansy plants to suitable habitat.

Proposal to authorize Alaska Department of Transportation to expand 3 existing rock pits on the Portage Bay and Bohemia road systems on northeastern Kupreanof Island. AK DOT would use the material for construction of the Kake Access Project road.

Proposal to issue a 5-year special use permit for a tent platform for personal hunting/subsistence use. The platform could remain in place all year, but the tent structure could only remain erected for about 3 months during designated season of use.

Proposal is to reconstruct 0.8 miles of the Ideal Cove Trail with a variety of trail types - native ground, step-and-run boardwalk, elevated boardwalk/bridges and gravel.

Proposal to issue a 5-year special use permit for a tent platform for personal hunting/subsistence use. The platform could remain in place all year; the tent structure could only remain erected for about 3 mo/yr during the designated season of use.

The Tongass National Forest proposes to amend the 2016 Tongass Land and Resource Management Plan (Forest Plan). The amendment will focus on Standard S-YG-KC-02 related to commercial timber harvest on lands identified as moderate vulnerability karst.

Proposal to issue a special use authorization to install a 6 inch diameter x 458 foot long water line, and a 3 inch diameter x 30 foot long water line attached to two instream water intake boxes to facilitate power generation to a private residence.

The Forest Service proposes removing the existing hike-in public use Raven's Roost Cabin and replacing it with a new accessible cabin and its associated site improvements. The proposed new cabin site is 1.2 miles closer to town than the existing one.

Remove culvert from abandoned road bed to improve fish passage, restore natural channel structure and restore natural flow regimes.
