Stream Restoration using Hand Tools on Sitka Ranger District

Tongass National Forest Sitka, Alaska Sitka Ranger District

The objective is to help restore anadromous (Class I) and resident (Class II) fish streams that have been impaired by past forest management practices. Hand tools will be used to place log structures in stream channels and floodplains.

Location

The proposed action targets over 40 watersheds and their riparian areas throughout Sitka Ranger District that were harvested prior to the Tongass Timber Reform Act.
