Prescott National Forest — Project Detail

The proposal is to remove three flush toilets at Lynx Lake and replace them with standard vault toilets. The new toilets will occupy the same footprint as the existing toilets. Distribution boxes will be decommissioned and septic tanks collapsed and filled in.

A combination of prescribed fire and other treatments to move the project area towards desired conditions of the Prescott Forest Plan. The project area is the same as the 2013 Bradshaw Vegetation Management EA and includes about 65,575 acres. [PALS #67092]

Combination of mechanical treatments and prescribed fire to reduce fuel loading and move vegetation toward desired conditions. A reliance on analysis (ROA; formerly, DNA) will be prepared based on the 2019 Chino Landscape Restoration EA. [PALS #68855]

Limit the area to Day Use, with no overnight camping. The construction of designated parking along County Road 71 on the north side of the Verde River with designated path(s) to the river.

Adding mastication of fuels to areas within the original Hassayampa Restoration EA.

To make 4 small separate exploration areas on a portion of the Hassayampa River. A motorized 2.5" suction dredge will be used. Each area not to exceed 6 feet of length 6 feet of width and 4 feet of depth, equal to approx. 5.3 cubic yards per area.

The objective of this project is to reforest 4,040 acres which were burned in the Battle Fire (1972), August Fire (2007), Palace Fire (2007), Lane 2 Fire (2008), Crown King Ash Creek Burn (2008), Gladiator Fire (2012) and Horse Fire (2020).

The Prescott National Forest is proposing a land exchange between the Prescott, Coconino, Kaibab, and Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests and the Yavapai-Apache Nation (YAN). More information at https://yavapai-apache.org/land-exchange

The Project would authorize mining placer deposits from approximately 11 acres for up to 20 years. Mining would be conducted with suction dredges, sluice boxes, dry washers, high bankers, metal detectors, gold pans, and hand tools

Improve pool habitat by sediment removal, instream structures, exclosure fences, and removal of juniper tree encroachment in three sites.

This project would include gold mining operations on approximately 48 acres (10 acres in the Red Hill #2 placer mining claim (PMC) and 38 acres in the Riverbend PMC), with an additional 4 acres for processing facilities, settling ponds, and roads.

The Prescott National Forest proposes to issue to the outfitter/guide known as AAM a 5-year priority special use permit for a river rafting outfitter guide operation on the Verde River and Verde Wild and Scenic River Segments.
