Bridger-Teton National Forest — Project Detail

Wyoming Game & Fish Commission requested continued use of the Dell Creek and Forest Park feedgrounds for their long-term winter elk feeding activities. Elk are fed hay between mid-Nov thru April.

Wyoming Game and Fish need access to Camp Creek Road during seasonal closure to access Elk Feedground. Gate will remain closed with signage. Snow plowing as needed. Sisters of Reparation own a private inholding off Camp Creek Road. Year around access and light maintenance/add drainage if needed.

The Red Rock Ranch is requesting a permit for current signs and egress/ingress to their property. They must drive from Gros Ventre Road to Crystal Creek Road, then take a right to get to their private home or main ranch property. There are signs along the road directing guests and a wooden archway.

Silver Star Telephone Company and Lower Valley Energy is proposing to place a new fiber optic telecommunication cable and power cable and appurtenances to upgrade facilities within and along numerous roads within the Fall Creek area.

The BTNF is planning to enhance watershed and fisheries values that are currently impaired by the unmaintained legacy road infrastructure within North Fork of Fall Creek drainage. This project entails restoring native fish passage by removing a perched culvert while improving wilderness character.

The Forest Service radio repeater on Elkhart Peak is outdated and needs to be replaced with modern radio technology. The proposal to install new infrastructure, which will ensure that the facility is consistent with radio communication direction in FSM 6640 - Telecommunications.

This project proposes to build Beaver Dam Analogues and post assisted log structures within Trail Creek. These structures act as a sink that mimics beaver dams to bolster riparian vegetation, increase groundwater infiltration, and sequester fine sediment and ash from traveling further downstream.

The first phase of forest planning includes preparation of an Assessment that outlines existing conditions and trends affecting the forest. This is not a decision document but public comment will be sought when the Draft Assessment is published.

Commercial timber harvests in a suite of silvicultural treatments using mechanized equipment; salvage, pre- and non-commercial thinning to improve stand condition, whitebark pine restoration, and replacement of a culvert. Reassess proposal post fire.

Proposed action is to allow Class 1 e-bikes on existing trails around Teton Pass and extend e-bikes seasonal restrictions at certain locations. Alt 1 would allow all 3 classes of e-bikes and includes trail construction. Draft EA comment closed 2/24.

The District proposes to reduce fuels, improve forest health and create favorable conditions for managing wildfire on 3,000 acres in a wildland-urban interface. Treatments include mechanical harvest, thinning, Rx fire and planting. Comment by 1/6/25.

Fuel treatments, including prescribed fire and commercial and non-commercial thinning, at Shadow Mountain to enhance aspen, open grassland, and forb communities. It would also reduce fuels within the WUI. Some prescribed fire may be in 2001 Roadless.

The Osmond Service and Improvement District (OSID) proposed to expand upon their existing water development infrastructure by constructing a 350,000-gallon water tank and replacing an existing water pipeline. Comment period open through May 1, 2025.

Silver Star has been funded by a USDA rural grant to install fiber optic line along Game Creek, Porcupine Creek, Henry's Road, Horse Creek Mesa, and Horse Creek. Comment period ended 3/24/25.

WYDOT proposes to install a WyoLink telecommunication site near the top of Pritchard Pass to enhance communication in the Snake River Corridor and Hoback area and increase public safety.

Change the grazing system of the Grover Blaney Allotment from a continuous grazing system to a 3-unit rotational grazing system.

Proposal to graze cattle on 4 former sheep allotments: Elk Ridge, Lime Creek, Rock Creek, and Tosi Creek. These allotments would be grazed by currently permitted cattle in the Upper Green River Area.

Forest Service decided to close Temple Creek and Bunion Creek allotments and proposes to reauthorize livestock grazing on Muddy Canyon Allotment. This project is currently on hold.

New Fork Lake Irrigation District has proposed to rehabilitate the New Fork Lake Dam at current location to meet statewide safety requirements and increase water storage to improve the availability of legally-secured water to downstream users.

The Silver Lake Irrigation District has proposed to rehabilitate the dam, inside the Bridger Wilderness, that supplies the water under their state water rights. State engineers have rated the dam's hazard at high. Proposal to raise dam & outlet work.

Wyoming Department of Transportation, with Federal Highway Administration, to reconstruct Hwy 22 at the Big Fill Slide. Some excess fill material may be placed on the Jackson Ranger District at the Phillips Bench parking area southeast of Hwy 22.

Residents have requested a permit to brush out a quarter-mile historic two-track from a private subdivision inholding to Highway 287, east of Moran, for emergency use. This project is in inventoried roadless area.

Treat up to 3,000 ac to improve forest health, protect infrastructure and egress within the Big Sandy wildland-urban interface area and portion of the West Slope Winds roadless area. Actions include thinning, sanitation, salvage and pile burning.

A reciprocal easement between the United States and Melody Ranch Investments I LLC to maintain historic public access to NFS lands between Game Creek and Wilson Canyon.

Installation of a vault toilet at the Big Spring day use area.

Proposal to study causes of poor recruitment of Colorado River cutthroat trout in La Barge Creek drainage and potential effects of disease. Sampling would be conducted for 21 days in 2025 and includes water samples for eDNA analysis.

Proposal for a scientific germination experiment that would include planting native seeds (Douglas-fir & lodgepole pine) in 2024 and measuring germination & establishment rates in summer of 2025, after which all planted trees will be removed.

Everlong Endurance proposes a 100-mile running race to be held on the Big Piney and Greys River Ranger Districts from August 9-11th, 2024. This race was previously held on the Bridger-Teton National Forest on similar routes in 2023, 2022 & 2021.

The Bridger-Teton proposes to install a new radio repeater on Rosie's Ridge to replace the existing repeater. Teton County, WY would move their equipment into the new repeater.

Jackson Ranger District proposes to extend the Sidewalk Trail from Cache Creek Trailhead to Forest Service boundary and reroute the Parallel Trail to the lower end of the Trail Creek Trailhead.

The district proposes various treatments to increase fuel breaks along busy roads. These treatments support fire management that is economically efficient, responsive to land management objectives and provides for public and firefighter safety.

To utilize prescribed burning for the regeneration of aspen stands, reinvigoration of forb communities, and the maintenance of grassland meadows in year-round habitat, winter range, and migration routes for a variety of big game species.

Project proposal: replace Sublette lift; construct and modify ski runs, traverses, terrain parks, and visitor-service facilities; develop summer recreation opportunities; avalanche control infrastructure; fuels reduction.

The forest, collaborating with BLM and WGFD, proposes to broadcast burn approx. 1400 acres to reduce conifer overstory and promote Aspen suckering. Desired vegetation conditions include reduced fuel loading and improved desirable wildlife habitat.

The Jackson RD proposes multiple projects in the Curtis Canyon area. It includes improving the drainage and surface on NFS Rd 30445, expanding the developed campground, and relocating the Goodwin Lake trail and trailhead. Decision available.

The Forest Service is considering amending its land management plans to address new and evolving issues arising since implementing sage-grouse plans in 2015. This project is in cooperation with the USDI Bureau of Land Management.
