Post-fire Competing Vegetation Management

Fremont-Winema National Forest Klamath; Lake, Oregon Fremont-Winema National Forest

The Forest Service is proposing to implement herbicide treatments for forest re-establishment and trail maintenance to reduce competing vegetation on approximately 43,000 acres of Forest System Lands that have been impacted by recent wildfires.

Location

The project is located on the Fremont-Winema National Forest. Areas that have been identified fall within recent large fire footprints. These areas include: the Watson Creek Fire (62,160 acres, 2018), Brattain Fire (51,380 acres, 2020), Bootleg Fire (426,500 acres, 2021), Patton Meadow Fire (8,946 acres, 2021), and Cougar Peak Fire (91,710 acres, 2021).
