National Forests and Grasslands in Texas San Jacinto, Texas Sam Houston Ranger District

Commercially thinning 5,640 acres of overstocked loblolly stands across Sam Houston National Forest for the purpose of moving the ecosystem towards the desired future condition and managing areas of concern for smoke mitigation and hazardous fuels.

Location

Sam Houston National Forest. About 60 miles north of Houston. Conroe, Huntsville Willis, Livingston, Coldspring, and Cleveland, Texas are the nearest cities with interstate 45 diving the forest. HWY 59 borders the eastern edge of the project area
