Manti-La Sal National Forest — Project Detail

The Monticello Ranger District, Manti-La Sal National Forest, proposes the Peters Point Fuels Reduction Project. The proposal consists of 1336 acres of treatment units within a 2,786-acre project area to reduce the continuity of vegetative fuels associated with fire hazard.

The objective of the Skyline Healthy Forest Restoration Act (HFRA) Project is to reduce the risk and extent of, and increase the resilience to, insect and disease infestation; and to reduce hazardous fuels.

The proposed action would include improvements to existing system components and development of a new water source within the Monticello Ranger District boundaries, and conveyance of water from the new source to the existing city treatment facility.

Forest Plan Revision: The Manti–La Sal National Forest is revising its 1986 Forest Plan pursuant to the 2012 Planning Rule (36 CFR 219).

The Manti-La Sal National Forest is proposing actions to expand the life of the active Chicken Creek Gypsum Mine by 20 years, making a cumulative disturbance of 218.58 acres.

The District proposes the issuance of a SUP to authorize an estimated seven boreholes on NFS lands along with access to the drilling locations to evaluate current conditions within the coal seam for future mitigation of the Wattis Mine Fire.

The Manti-La Sal National Forest proposes to approve a special use permit to Ephraim City to replace the existing aged culinary pipe, construct a new portion of pipeline and to authorize a staging area to be used during construction.

The Manti-La Sal National Forest, Sanpete Ranger District, proposes to build a 1-acre parking area along Forest Road 6900 in Log Hollow.

Emery Telcom is proposing to bury approximately 2,500 ft of fiber line to the Baker Administration site along North Creek Rd, Pinyon Dr.

The proposed project would authorize multiple prescribed burns across the Forest every year (up to 32,000 acres annually) as well as associated actions, to restore health and resiliency to vegetation communities on the Manti-La Sal National Forest.

The proposed improvements are planned to address the needs of several grazing allotments across the Ferron/Price Ranger District.

The Forest Service is considering amending its land management plans to address new and evolving issues arising since implementing sage-grouse plans in 2015. This project is in cooperation with the USDI Bureau of Land Management.
