Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests & Thunder Basin National Grassland — Project Detail

The Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest has received Expressions of Interest on the HPBE District to lease ten parcels to the BLM for a potential future oil and gas lease sale and subsequent exploration and development.

The Town of Oak Creek is currently authorized under a Special Use Permit to operate and maintain Sheriff Reservoir and has proposed an overall rehabilitation project includes spillway enlargement (replacement) and repair/replacement of the outlet terminal structure.

Authorizing commercial road use of National Forest System Road 964, on Thunder Basin National Grassland. Applicant/operator is Loil Oil, LLC. Special use case no. DGL590.

ONEOK Bakken Pipeline, L.L.C., is requesting use on National Forest System Road 964 and improved two track roads to transport material to install a 12-inch NGL pipeline on the surrounding neighbors' lands and to provide land restoration and maintain the pipeline easement.

Special use authorization, water transmission pipeline on surface, along Dull Center Road. Applicant is Devon Energy Production, LP.

The Colorado Department of Transportation has requested renewal of expired Special Use Permit for occupancy and use of a maintenance facility on Rabbit Ears Pass. PALS #68913

Fuels in a predominantly spruce-fir forest will be reduced within a 1000 foot area around the Stillwater Ditch. Treatments will include hand-thinning with pile burning or lop and scatter.

Replacement of aerial powerline, realignments, and installation of buried powerline approximately 1.85 miles. Proponent is Powder River Energy Corporation.

Upgrades to Jenne Trail Road (County Road 34) and Ross Road for public safety and maintenance improvements. Applicant is County of Converse.

Authorization for reissuance of a 5-year term mineral material sale contract at Antelope Mine, including additional areas to the current authorized area.

Emergency maintenance on a 16-inch natural gas pipeline.

The South Gore Vegetation Management Project is designed as a response to the Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) epidemic and has been proposed to increase the pace of restoration and resiliency of National Forest System lands.

The Routt National Forest proposes to lease an 8.47-acre parcel of National Forest System lands, located within the city of Steamboat Springs, to the city, for construction and management of income-based workforce housing.

This project proposes to plant native tree seedlings in post-fire areas where trees are not reestablishing naturally.

Collection of cones/seed from conifer trees to maintain an adequate seed bank for reforestation. Methods include felling trees, tree climbing or use of lifts or other devices.

Fuels reduction project to improve public and firefighter safety, protect key infrastructure, and improve forest health and regeneration. Also proposes management actions to improve the forest transportation system.

Proposed trails changes and/or new trails construction, mostly in the Rabbit Ears Pass and Rocky Peak areas.

Expansion of mineral material/scoria mining sites and re-issuance of mineral material sale contract to Peabody Powder River Mining, LLC.

Reduce wildfire risk to the communities of Wilderness Ranch, Hitch Mountain, and Quaker Mountain and to the Elkhead Reservoir. To enhance efforts to protect watersheds and address threats to forest and rangeland health.

Land interchange between the Forest Service and Mill Creek Ranch under the Small Tracts Act. Each entity will convey 5 acres and acquire 5 acres. Project will resolve boundary line issues related to discrepancies found in the original land surveys.

The Forest Service is considering amending its land management plans to address new and evolving issues arising since implementing sage-grouse plans in 2015. This project is in cooperation with the USDI Bureau of Land Management.

Reissuance of a Special Use Permit for a 5-year term for use and maintenance of National Forest System Road 634.2 for access to private property.
