Mitigation of hazard trees on Camps 1 and 2 to allow for safe use of the recreation sites through removal and burning of piled materials.

Upgrading existing microwave system at Shirley Peak to an 8 GHz band, replacing existing Forest Service building, replacng existing towers, and building new building and towers.

The California DFW proposes removing existing siphon and pipeline and installing new ones in same footprint at the fish hatchery.

Culvert removal and stream channel restoration in the crossing. Old culvert would be replaced by a bridge or bottomless-arch culvert. APE is approximately 0.25 to 0.35 acres. All disturbance would be confined to existing roadway.

Need to improve Jackass Meadow hydrologic function by stabilizing and elevating the meadow grade and prevent further degradation. Will install Beaver Dam Analog (BDA) structures.

Establish management direction for the land and resources within the Giant Sequoia National Monument. (Monument was established in April 2000.)

Management of debris piles (resulting from the 2020 Castle Fire) located within Southern California Edison (SCE) right-of-ways through removal and chipping/spreading to reduce fuel loading.

Management of debris piles (resulting from the 2021 Windy Fire) located within and adjacent to Southern California Edison (SCE) right-of-ways through removal and chipping/spreading to reduce fuel loading.

This project will consider decommissioning several roads/segments in the Black Mtn giant sequoia grove

Maintenance & operation of a water transmission line (less than 12 inches diameter) and enclosure with reservoir covering 0.04 acres

To use herbicides such as Glyphosate and Triclopyr within the approximately 2,060 acres in the Rough,Eshom/KNP fire areas to improve planted seedling survival. through reduced shrub competition.

To restore and promote a healthy forest ecosystem; to establish forest conditions, to promote resilient forest conditions and to establish and maintain low surface and ladder fuel conditions

The project will promote forest resilience and ecological integrity by reducing fuel loads, reforestation, wildlife habitat improvement and hydrologic improvement activities.

Treat up to 6,700 acres through thinning, sanitation, mastication and prescribed burn to improve forest health and wildlife habitat, and reduce fuels in Tenmile Creek drainage.

Hazard tree felling and removal is proposed to reduce public safety hazards along portions of certain roads, trails and facilities within nine national forests. We expect to complete three zone-level analyses and nine decisions.

Reforestation in high severity burn areas of the Castle and Windy Fires

Approximately 700 acres of land burned by the 2002 McNally Fire will be re-planted.

Construct a new campground with a mix of campsite types (e.g., tent, RV, family groups up to 20 people, yurts) consisting of a vehicle parking area and a camping area that will accommodate a picnic table, fire ring, bear box, and a tent pad.

Fell and remove dead and dying trees posing a falling hazard along General's Highway, Big Meadows Road (FR14S11) to and including Heart Meadow Road (14S02D).

The project will reduce fuel loads and remove ladder fuels through a combination of dead and live tree removal and duff removal around the base of monarch Giant Sequoia trees.

Hand cut and pile around large sequoias, burn piles, then underburn to treat surface and ladder fuel to reduce risk of stand replacement in high severity wildfire. Improve conditions for controlled burns or managed wildfire in the groves.

Proposal to reduce fuels buildup in a portion of Big Stump Giant Sequoia Grove through prescribed burning to protect nearby facilities and begin reintroducing fire into the grove.

Felling and removing hazard trees along forest roads affected by the Cedar Fire, drought, and bark beetles in the Bull Run Creek area.

To safely operate specified recreation sites and fuelbreaks; pile & burn, and remove as wood/timber products a portion of the slash created during the hazard tree felling resulting from the drought, insect and fire mortality from 2012-2016.

Ecological restoration & hazardous fuels treatment on 6153 acres in the wildland urban interface of the Horse Meadow Community. Treatments would employ mechanical and hand thinning, and prescribed fire, with some commercial timber harvest.

Masticate small trees (less than 10 inches dbh) and brush causing overstocked conditions in plantations near Kirkland Meadow. Underburn or pile and burn fuel concentrations. Leave 80-120 trees per acre and pockets of untreated shrubs for wildlife.

Restore meadow functioning by repairing headcuts in Long Meadow by establishing a low gradient step pool system from the bottom of the meadow up to the headcut.

Felling and removing hazard trees along roads, maintaining roads, and restoring ground cover and vegetation in the Pier fire area.

This project would reduce flammable vegetation within the Ponderosa Wildland Urban Interface Zone. Proposed under the Healthy Forests Restoration Act. Addresses immediate need around Ponderosa and Quaker Meadows.

Greenhorn Mountains fuels reduction project within the Greenhorn East and West compartments, including the Tillie Creek, French Gulch, and Cedar Creek watersheds. The Injunction on this project was Vacated on 8/24/2011.

Felling and removing hazard trees along forest roads affected by the Cedar Fire, drought, and bark beetles in the Spear Creek area of the Giant Sequoia National Monument.

Increase forest stand resiliency to insects and disease by thinning trees on approximately 1,100 acres within the wildland urban interface (WUI) surrounding Alta Sierra.

Installation of fencing on Cow Flat grazing allotment to prevent cattle from ranging onto steep hillsides and falling on the the roadway below. The fence will improve public safety and mitigate loss of stock.

A collaborative process to develop a travel management plan for the Piute Mountains area.

Hazard tree mitigation for the safety of forest users along approximately 130 miles of NFS roads, and within and around recreation and administrative sites within the Castle Fire perimeter.

Authorizing a 10 year outfitting and guiding special use permit for Balch Park Pack Station for horse back related/riding activities on trails, campsites within the Golden Trout Wilderness area on the Western Divide RD, Sequoia NF.

Issue new permit for one building (20 ft X 20 ft) and an associated parking area (one acre), to be used in conjuction with boat patrols on Lake Isabella. SUP to be issued for 10 years. (SUP was never issued. Previously under an ACOE lease)

Analysis of OHV trail as per the Sequoia Land Management Plan Mediated Settlement Agreement. Revised DEIS published August 2002.

Operation and maintenance of a water irrigation ditch

FLPMA road special use permit (SUP) to be reissued for 10 years, with no changes and no ground disturbing activities.

Placer mining operations for the exploration and extraction of gold from the stream channel in Greenhorn Creek and maintenance of the access roads.

Improve forest health and reduce fuels in existing plantations, damaged by fire, drought & insects. Restore native species mix & maintain/promote old forest habitat components while reducing safety hazards on roads.

Reconstruct & construct buildings and other infrastructure such as waterlines within the permitted areas for both Stony Creek and Montecito Lake resorts to improve function and visitor services.

Authorizing a 10-year special use permit for operation and maintenance of a resort.

The Over-Snow Grooming project proposes to groom approximately 170 miles of routes in the Sequoia National Forest and Giant Sequoia National Monument.

Proposal to reauthorize an existing grazing permit for the Taylor/Long Allotment located on the Kern Plateau.

This project is proposed to reduce erosion within Dry Meadow and restore floodplain function and resiliency.

Removal of hazard trees posing a hazard to two primary roads (22S05 and 21S03), an administrative site (Blackrock Station), and a developed recreation site (Blackrock Trailhead).

Replace existing portable toilets with new vault toilet buildings and/or install new vaults where no permanent toilet facility currently exists.

Restrict access to two historic mines by adding a bat gate and filling an opening.

Remove up to 100 trees causing signal interference at the Breckenridge Communication Sites.

The project would provide ecological restoration by reducing fuels loading through removal of dead or damaged trees and by prescribed burning. It would also remove hazard trees from public roadways In the Sirretta Road/Sherman Pass area

Consists of salvage/harvest of fire killed/damaged trees; mechanically treating areas of densely stocked fire killed trees; restoring meadow habitat and mitigate erosion at French Meadow; and reconstructing existing roads to access treatment areas.

Commercial timber sale to remove hazard trees for safety purposes along approximately 32 miles of roads affected by the 2008 Piute Fire.

Proposed project to renew a grazing permit on the Sampson Allotment, which includes areas inside and outside of Giant Sequoia National Monument and the Kings River Special Management Area.

This project will reduce flammable vegetation through prescribed burning within the area adjoining the northern boundary of the Tule River Indian Reservation. Proposed under the Tribal Forest Protection Act.

Variably thin approx 892 acres in WUI defense & threat zones using mechanical and/or hand thinning methods. Material may be sold as commercial sawlogs. Excess surface fuels will be treat by piling/burning, underburning or chipping.

Variably thin 998 acres of plantations using hand thinning methods. Excess surface fuels will be treated by chipping and/or lop & scatter (with broadcast burning), hand piling & burning, or made available for personal use firewood.

Salvage of 130 acres of fire and insect killed trees, with less than 0.5 miles of temporary road construction. Approximately 145 acres will be planted. Retain snag retention corridor consisting of 68 acres. (See "other project information" below.)

Improve forest health & wildlife habitat in high intensity drought/insect-kill area using mastication, biomass removal, prescribed burning, road decommissioning & reforestation in Eshom and Dry creek drainages. Reduces fuels near private property.

This project addresses watershed improvement in three meadows (Upper Parker, Lower Parker, Packsaddle) on Western Divide RD and five meadows (Little Horse, Powell, Granite Knob, Little Troy, Troy) on Kern River RD.

Storm damage repairs to road crossings at creeks in Hobo and Tillie Creek Campgrounds

Special Use Permit issuance for a museum/visitor center, preserving, restoring and teaching Native American culture, history and traditions.

Approve continued operations, maintenance and use of existing distribution and transmission power lines and infrastructure for Southern California Edison & Pacific Gas & Electric located within designated corridors in the Sequoia National Forest.

Removal of approximately 65 trees on 50 acres which are causing interference with a microwave communications site

Issue one- to five-year special use permits to groups to hold recreational fishing events.

Renew five expiring special use permits for whitewater and mountaineering outfitter guides for a 10-year period.

Coordinate with neighboring Kings Canyon National Park to prescribe burn an estimated 511 acres of NFS land, while they burn an estimated 1,126 acres on NPS land in the next decade.

Issue a new 40 year permit with no changes from the current 20 year permit or master development plan.

Issuance of a one year outfitter guide special use permit-- teaching a hybrid of Native American traditions & contemporary backpacking/wilderness survival skills.

Construct new motorized trail sections that bypass the existing non-motorized sections of the Cannell Meadow National Recreation Trail (33E32).

Expand lodging facilities to 45 rooms at the Stony Creek Lodge, on Generals Highway.

Improve river access on the Upper Kern River at Road's End & Camp 3, and add permanent vault toilets at Riverkern Beach, Camp 3, Thunderbird, Road's End, and Willow Point. Improve river access on Lower Kern River, at Democrat Raft Take-Out.

Project would implement both road maintenance & site rehabilitation work identified within nine dispersed recreation areas located in the Upper Kern Canyon. All nine site accommodate both day use and overnight camping.

Stabilize streambank eroding part of Eshom Campground site 18 and depositing sediment into Eshom Creek, rehab riparian area being eroded.

Reauthorize livestock grazing under current management for two (2) allotments in the Kiavah Wilderness.

Mitigate threats by restricting access at two historic mines and a cave

Analysis to determine changes to allotment management plans.

Reissue livestock grazing permits under current management for four (4) allotments: Breckenridge, Pechacho, Hobo, and Cow Flat.

Reauthorize livestock grazing permit under current management for five (5) allotments.

This project is a maintenance program involving the use of herbicides to control vegetation around hydropower facilities, access roads and trails.

Install erosion control in a gully of Taylor Meadow

Replace undersized culvert along Sherman Pass Road at Fish Creek

Maintain up to 769 acres on 6 existing fuelbreaks in the Eshom portion of the district. Proposed treatments are hand and machine felling hazard trees and piling the material. Piles would be burned.

Renewal of expired special use permit for a 5-year term for the use of the Miracle Hot Springs Day Use Area for teaching and kayak events.

Renew special use permits for 16 roads and 2 research sites with roads

Issue a permit for a 20-year period for existing roads and water system, including replacement of water tanks to serve existing cabins.

Remove dead and dying trees near homes and roads, reduce fuels buildup

Renewal of multiple communication leases and permits at 33 existing sites on the Sequoia National Forest.

New communications use lease at an existing communications site.

Construct a new permanent corral measuring 60 feet by 80 feet with two short wing fences extending no more than 100 feet from the corral. This livestock handling facility will be used during turn out and gathering of livestock.

Reduce fuels in and around the Wishon Campground, around Doyle Springs and Sequoia Crest communities, along FR 20S03, and within the Alder Creek Grove. All proposed activities are on Forest Service land.

Install a bat gate and a road gate to restrict access to underground mine.

Fell the conifers competing with aspen in 5 stands by hand thinning. Each stand is unique, but cumulatively approximately 120 small (less than 16" dbh)cedars and firs would be cut. Small material piled and burned/chipped, large material left on site.

Closure of mine openings and removal of structures, old equipment, and trash, from nine (9) abandoned mines.

Improve East Beach Creek Road (20S25) to reduce erosion and decommission three non-system spur roads near Osa Meadow.

A proposal to seasonally close the Davis Road (FR 12S01) (approximately 12/1 - 4/15 based on weather conditions) and to decommission 13 forest roads or portions of roads (a total of 3.3 miles) within the Mill Flat Creek Critical Aquatic Refuge.

Fuel reduction on 260 acres around Pinehurst and Neff's Camp communities via tree and shrub cutting and pruning, then chipping, or piling and burning the material. Proposal in mutual fire response area of CalFire (187 ac) and Forest Service (73 ac)

Treat 1500 acres of tamarisk (salt cedar) an invasive plant at Isabella Lake, using mechanical treatments or herbicides where necessary.

Reconstruct approximately 0.75 miles of the Black Gulch South Road, build permanent toilet facilities, and dumpster pads will be added to this site. Sandy Flat Day Use Area, construct asphalt surface trail from parking lot to Kern River

Mitigate threats to wildlife by restricting access to underground mine

Issue a 5-year temporary special use permit to hold fishing derbies on Isabella Lake.

Outfitter works with 8th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students in small groups teaching hiking, rock climbing, backpacking and camping.

Provide defensible space around the community of Alta Sierra and nearby structures, improve forest health and provide for ecological restoration.

Re-issue a temporary SUP for a septic system encroaching on forest land

Renew a special use permit for unimproved dirt road (approximately 105 feet long and 20 feet wide for 0.05 acres) that accesses private property from Gallup Road (FS Road 29S03) near Grouse Meadow in the Piute Mountains.

Ecological restoration, by thinning and prescribed burning, to restore a healthy, diverse, fire-resistant forest structure and species composition.

Sampling and exploration of ore from an existing barite mine.

Proposal to redesign the Millwood OHV Staging Area to better define camp/day use areas and road access in order to reduce impacts to the creek and other resources.

The Rough Fire Initial Reforestation Project proposes to plant up to 500 acres with a mix of sugar and ponderosa pine in the Mill Flat Creek drainage where the Rough Fire burned at high severity.

Designate a system of routes available to motorized vehicles in portions of the Kern River Ranger District and Western Divide Ranger District outside of the Giant Sequoia National Monument.

SUP for construction by Army Corps of Engineers for the USDA Forest Service Administration and Recreation Facilities Relocation

Proposal for over snow vehicle (OSV) road and facility maintenance program.

This is a shaded fuelbreak, around the Valley View community, that will be 250 feet long, with removal of snags, ladder fuels, and material on the ground.

This project is designed to reduce plantation conifer stocking levels and associated aerial fuels to improve plant vigor, increase resistance to insects, and reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires.

Planting by hand 2,824 acres; Mechanical site preparation & hand planting on additional 656 acres; Fell six trees per acre for wildlife cover adjacent to riparian areas over approx. 50 acres.

Re-issuing a Road SUP for a new 10-year term as the previous SUP holder sold property to Gary Costello. The only change to the previous permit is the Permit Holder.

Piute Mountain meadow restoration project would improve conditions in three meadows burned during the Piute fire. These meadows include French, Mack, and Woolstaff.

Renewal of an existing water system that serves four recreation residence cabins.

Special use permit renewal for water tank, water transmission line, and road access.

Proposal to renew special use permit for unimproved dirt road (approximately 600 feet long and 12 feet wide for 0.16 acres) that accesses private property from FS Road 21S02 near Beach Meadow.

Salvage fire killed timber on 142 acres within the 2545 acre Shirley Fire area to reduce future fuel loading and provide for reforestation.

Meadow restoration project proposes to improve aquatic conditions and raise the water table beneath Osa Meadow.

Amends SUP to add approximately 295 feet of chain link fence (six foot high) to permitted area. Fencing is needed to meet FAA regulations for safety and security.

Renewal of the expired Sierra Bella Mutual Water Company special use permit for a 20-year term for water tanks, water transmission line, and access road with gate.

Reissue 20 year special use permit for a target range. No changes are proposed. Current permit covers approximately 40 acres and 0.25 miles of road.

Install fencing to separate grazing management units and eliminate livestock access to riparian corridor.

Proponent proposes to repair and maintain NFS Road No. 20S92, which includes resurfacing, cleaning culverts, road grading, and/or clearing the roadside of brush without the use of herbicides.

The decision will issue a 10-year apiary SUP for two sites (100 hives/site)and use of signs and electric bear fences.

Water from four springs would be used to irrigate orchards located on the proponent's private property and water from one spring would be used to supply water to the proponent's house. The current water rights are for domestic and irrigation use.

Proposed project to replace the lookout cab and tower with the same look and feel as the original tower on the same site. The lookout will comply with current building codes and safety requirements.

Authorize issuance of two separate outfitter guide special use permits for guided hunting and fishing.

Apiary Special Use Permit impacting less than five contiguous acres.

Proposal to maintain 11 miles of Davis Road (Forest Road No. 12S01) by replacing culverts, repairing the roadbed and other drainage features, and adding rock to the road surface.

Add two poles and lines to upgrade the SCE power line to the existing Isabella Lake hydroelectric plant.

Allow SCE to replace a damaged utility pole on Breckenridge.

Re-issuing a Road SUP for a new 10-year term and installing a gate.

Proposal to fell dead or damaged trees along district roads that pose a safety hazard or danger to public/employees using these routes. Some trees may be removed.

Proposal to continue operating supervised backpacking, hiking, and camping trips lasting from 1-2 weeks for 6th through 12th grade students.

Restore areas within Black Gulch North, Black Gulch South, and China Garden dispersed recreation areas in the Lower Kern Canyon. Protect sensitive resources in the vicinity of Evans Flat Campground located in the Greenhorn Mtns.

An ecological restoration project in the Oak Ridge area of the Greenhorn Mountains. This project will implement sustainable forest practices by improving wildland fire safety, wildlife habitat, and economic use of forest by-products.
