Develop an allotment management plan for cattle

Project managers propose the installation of 3 new surface water streamgage stations along Meadow Creek and 20-30 piezometer groundwater wells along the creek's floodplain. Installation is proposed for the summer of 2025.

Replacing first trail bridge on Pine Lakes trail after the previous bridge reached failure.

Salvage 250 acres of fire affected trees by the 2024 Town Gulch Fire, as well as harvest hazard trees and road maintenance trees on 10.4 miles of open system roads.

The Whitman District interdisciplinary team proposes salvage logging up to 250 acres of dead and/or dying trees and removing 10.5 miles of danger trees within 150 feet of the road in the Town Gulch Fire footprint.

The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network (pnsn.org)is interested in partnering with the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest to install seismic monitoring stations at Mt Fanny and Elkhorn Ridge communication sites.

The purpose and need of this project is to improve forest health, resiliency to disturbance, reduce the risk of high intensity fire and to provide economic benefit to the local economy.

The Forest Service proposes to issue a special use permit which would provide terms and conditions under which Idaho Power Company could build and operate a housing facility on approximately 3.5 acres of National Forest Service lands at Circle C.

Oregon Trail Electric Company (OTEC) will clear ROW and landings of boulders and vegetation in order to replace 27 /- electrical poles. An estimated 1.69 /- miles of ROW road and vegetation cleaning, hazard tree reduction and pole replacement.

This project is designed to reduce fuels and increase wildfire resistance along the Mt. Emily Ridgeline.

There is a need to replace the North Minam and East Lostine Trail Bridges. The bridges have failed and are no longer usable.

Repair a section of streambank from an uprooted dead tree adjacent to National Forest System Road 7785 to prevent further erosion.

Four grazing allotments on the Whitman Ranger District of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest and Hells Canyon National Recreation Area.

This analysis identifies the visitor use capacity on National Forest System lands only, on the Nez Perce National Historic Trail to assist in the protection and management of trail resources.

Comprehensive plan for motorized recreation on the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest (except for HCNRA). Will include designated routes for all motorized vehicles except snowmobiles.

East site only- previous disturbed ground from Placer Mining, an area of 40%u2019x 200%u2019 will be tested using backhoe/excavator. Total area of disturbance will be about a  acre in size. 10-20 lodge pole trees will be removed.

(Transmission Line Rebuild) Mainly replacing old power poles with new poles (3) between California Gulch to Auburn Gulch, approx. 1/4 mile rebuild on FS ground. OTEC will be replacing an additional 3 /- poles on maintenance,

Bury a new 1.5" HDPE pipeline in the same location as the existing on the ground pipeline at a depth of 24x1/4 mile in length. A trace of wire placed in trench to be able to locate pipeline in the future.

Vegetation management using commercial harvest, non-commercial thinning, and prescribed burning.

Clear Creek Sno-Park was constructed in 1994 and was intended to accommodate use for approximately 5 years, with a target of approximately 25-50 vehicles.

Replace an existing communications tower to meet FAA and NEC Regulations

This project proposes to conduct placer mining operations and reclamation of new and legacy mining disturbance in the Pine Creek drainage in the Whitman Ranger District on National Forest System (NSF) lands.

This project would construct a combination of channel spanning and habitat structures in the stream and floodplain using locally sourced materials.

This project is designed to restore access to high quality habitat for federally listed summer steelhead by restoring floodplain connectivity. This will be accomplished by replacing an aquatic passage and relocating 0.5 miles of NFS road.

This project would exclude livestock from streams by placing wood within the riparian area, allowing the riparian area to recover and streambank stabilization, in Little Beaver Creek. Listed fish species are present.

Modify a water gap for cattle by adding rock to streambank and streambottom to create a stable base for cattle to cross, and also reduce siltation.

Adding fiber to existing conduit and insulation of new buried conduit and vaults.

This project proposes the construction of approximately two miles of fence. Additionally, the unneeded fence would be removed. This project is designed to increase fish habitat quality.

The purpose of this project is to remove hazards to life and property and recover the value of fire-damaged trees in a timely manner. These actions are needed to assure public safety.

Harvest trees for use in the upcoming Vey Meadows stream restoration project. This harvest unit was analyzed under unit 42 of the Sheep Creek Vegetation Management project.

Paving the existing parking lot at the Catherine Creek Summit SnoPark

Floodplain and meadow restoration, improve hydrologic function and fish habitat by installing beaver dam analogues, channel grading, riparian conifer thinning, and deciduous planting.

This proposal includes two different bridges located at the Kirkwood Historic Ranch. The Kirkwood Pack Bridge and the Kirkwood Foot Bridge. The bridges are rotting and in need of replacement.

The USFS will evaluate alternatives to the wildlife standard of the Eastside Screens that limits harvest of trees greater than 21 inches for the Umatilla, Wallowa-Whitman, Malheur, Ochoco, Deschutes, and Fremont-Winema National Forests.

Mining operator proposes to complete a small-scale testing and exploration operations that will disturb less than one acre and process less than 5000 cubic yards of material. The operator proposes to excavate and explore six sites.

T-Mobile is proposing cell antennas on ATC owned tower. Antennas will be installed on existing tower and ground equipment will be installed inside new equipment building. New solar panels will be installed to provide power.

Add large wood into the channel to improve fish habitat

Mechanically place debris jams into 3.75 miles of streams using wood within 200' of the stream.

Install piezometers to gather baseline water level data before beginning a stream restoration project.

Improve forest health, the landscape%u2019s resiliency to disturbance, and increase the structural complexity and species diversity of vegetation to provide habitat for a wider range of wildlife species.

Mechanically place wood and boulders to construct debris jams and fish habitat structures at 68 sites from Fly Creek river miles 7-9.

The project involves placing wood into a channel spanning log jam configuration using excavators within Smith Creek. Materials would be hand thinned from two precommercial thinning units within the project area. One culvert is proposed for removal.

Remove windthrown trees from previously analyzed mechanical vegetation management units.

Install early earthquake detection equipment at an existing facility on Mt. Fanny.

Fuels reduction on approximately 3,000 acres of wildland urban interface. Management activities include commercial harvest, noncommercial thinning, and prescribed burning.

Replacing culvert with ATV bridge on Smith Creek to access Starkey fence

Increase stream channel complexity by adding large wood, coarse substrate, and quality pool habitat.

Improve spring/summer chinook and summer steelhead habitat and stream function by adding large woody debris into channels using mini-excavators.

The project would replace wood poles with poles with self-weathering steel poles. The replacement of these poles will require new construction of two and three-pole steel structures, guy wires, anchors, and steel shield wire.

Mechanical thinning, slash busting, prescribed fire, piling and burning to manage and improve vegetative health and sustainability and to treat fuels near wildland urban interface, private lands, and the Eagle Cap Wilderness.

Replace existing culvert with an updated design to meet ODFW fish passage criteria.

The Lostine Falls Entrapment Mitigation project is intended to reduce the mortality of bull trout and Chinook salmon at Lostine Falls. The project is proposing to move the boulders at the head of the falls that divert fish into the pocket pools.

The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, Wallowa Valley Ranger District is proposing to construct 3.8 miles of permanent fence on the Buck Creek Allotment in the Orchard and McCubbin pastures.

The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest proposes to prescribe burn approximately 1,123 acres within the Muddy Sled Prescribed Fire Project area.

Mechanically place large wood and structures into 1 mile of the upper Grande Ronde River.

This project has been cancelled due to a change in the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest program of work priorities.

This project proposes harvest for thinning in two units, to achieve stocking level. The two units were treated with prescribed burning in South Fork WUI project. The units are South Fork WUI Unit 2, 14 acres, and South Fork WUI Unit 1, 31 acres.

Provide office & ware house space, vehicle & helicopter parking, for newly formed Grande Ronde Rappel Crew at La Grande airport. Facility would be constructed by Union County on county-owned lands; to be leased by USFS.

Restore user created routes by tree felling, decompacting soils, and installing berms. Actions would protect sites from illegal dumping and invasive species as well as enhance cultural resources, fish and wildlife habitat, and quiet recreation.

The purpose of this project is to implement the direction of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest Plan by providing grazing on National Forest System lands where suitable.

Phase II of the Bird Track Springs Fish Enhancement Project. The objective is to enhance 1.55 miles of fish habitat for salmonids by creating an active and available floodplain, relocating channels, enhancing riparian vegetation and wetlands.

Exploration effort to determine size gradations and quantities of materials along proposed channel alignments and at potential borrow sites to determine suitability for riffle construction in the Longley Meadows Fish Enhancement Project.

Wood will be inserted into 2.5 miles of Upper Chicken Creek, 1.5 miles of West Fork Chicken creek and 0.5 miles of North Fork West Chicken Creek to promote floodplain interaction and create habitat complexity.

This project proposes to place large woody debris within the channel to improve habitat for summer steelhead, spring Chinook, bull trout and redband trout.

70 acre commercial thinning treatment (HTH) designed to modify fire behavior and intensity, expand DFPZs, accelerate the stand toward HRV, improve stand tolerance to insect and disease, and provide for landscape and local connectivity corridors.

This project intends to restore floodplain function and fish habitat through instream and floodplain wood placement on approximately 3.5 miles of Fly Creek.

Commercially remove downed trees that were killed during a 2019 wind event

Idaho Power is proposing to construct and operate a 500 kV transmission line between Boardman, Or and Murphy, Id. BLM is the lead agency.

The Forest Service proposes to construct fence on the Divide Cattle and Horse Allotment to control livestock distribution, reduce fine sediment deposition in Little Sheep, Big Sheep, and Salt Creeks and to decrease riparian grazing effects.

Recover value of fire-caused tree mortality by salvaging burned trees on approximately 20 acres adjacent to the Hat Point road.

Thin approximately 50 acres of forested stands along the Hat Point Road, Wallowa County, Oregon.

The Lower Joseph Creek Restoration Project proposes to restore, maintain and enhance forest and rangeland resilience to natural disturbance and contribute to the local economic and social vitality of the area.

Replace existing 100 yr old water transmission line, providing potable water to the residents of Baker City.

Restore portions of North Pine Creek channel, adjacent to Forest Road 39. Affected area is less than one acre, and is approximately 1150 ft long by 26 ft long.

Analysis of ongoing range use for management of the Snake River, Double Pine, and North Pine grazing allotments.This project was scoped with Boulder/Eagle grazing; two analyses were done due to Snake/Pine's location in the Hells Canyon NRA.

Removal of lodgepole pine within stands that are currently at the highest risk of increased beetle attack.

Project activities include machine wood placement and planting along 2 miles of McCoy Creek within existing big game exclosures.

This project proposes to reduce stand densities by thinning and piling, followed by pile burning on approximately 70 acres.

The primary purpose is to address the public safety issues within the Lostine corridor, as well as mitigate or minimize risks to the other values, including infrastructure (homes, cabins, recreation improvements, roads), the natural resource values.

The Wallowa Whitman proposes to repair the Hells Canyon Creek Boat Ramp. Over the last quarter of a century, the rock material under and around the boat ramp and apron has eroded away, leaving the ramp and apron partially unsupported.

The objective is to improve spring/summer chinook, summer steelhead, and bull trout habitat through instream wood placement, livestock exclusion, fencing and seeding.

Convert NFS road 3120-510 into an OHV trail

The proposed bridge would replace the BC Bridge that was washed out in 2002. The crossing is on the heavily used Chief Joseph Trail (#1803). The bridge would be replaced as a single span foot traffic only bridge to allow safe crossing for visitors.

The purpose for the project is to move and reconstruct a fence to distribute cattle away from heritage resources and to decrease the effect of grazing on Jensen Spring.

The objective is to improve spring/summer chinook, summer steelhead, and bull trout habitat through instream wood placement.

The Blue Mountains Forest Resiliency Project will propose thinning and prescribed burning on approximately 610,000 acres on the Ochoco, Umatilla and Wallowa-Whitman National Forests.

New authorization to replace missing file record and/or history of agreements for the site. Changes are only administrative.

Instream and floodplain wood placement on 2.5 miles of the Grande Ronde River and lower Fly Creek to improve fish habitat for listed species.

Fuels reduction and thinning in WUI

This project is designed to improve spring/summer Chinook habitat, summer steelhead habitat, and migratory habitat for bull trout. Project activities include building 45 woody stream structures, 2 culvert replacements, planting, fencing, and seeding.

Restoration project on 2.5 miles of the Upper Grande Ronde River (Woodlee Reach) to improve hydrologic function and habitat for spring/summer chinook, summer steelhead, and bull trout.

ODOT has proposed approx. 45 acre mineral material site for development and an a 11 acre storage site within an overall site area of 135 acres.

Reconstruct the Mason Dam Boat Launch ramp located at Phillips Reservoir. It would be replaced with a concrete structure in the same location. This work would be accomplished in partnership with the Oregon State Marine Board.

Authorize commercial livestock grazing on six allotments located west of State Highway 3

This small timber sale is proposed to promote resiliency within an overstocked stand in the Spring Creek Area. Treatment would help benefit sensitive wildlife species that depend on single story large diameter stands.

Replacement of two culverts to improve fish passage. Priority project for threatened and endangered fish species.

Environmental analysis to authorize livestock grazing for 4 allotments on the Wallowa Valley Ranger District.

Repair post-fire flood damage of approximately 0.2 miles of Forest Service Road (FSR) 2640 and shift the alignment to raise the roadbed above the adjacent Last Chance Creek and out of the floodplain.

Reduce fuel loading and return stands to their historic structure while recovering biomass for local industry in the vicinity of the Canal Fire and Cold Springs.

Harvest 70 acres in stand by Bird Track Springs Campground, with the objective of achieving stocking level and forest health. Use trees from adjacent unit for stream restoration.

Request for an access road located off Forest System Road 8205 (Hurricane Creek Road) to tax lot 1100. The access road is estimated to be approximately 33ft by 180ft located within: T.03 S R.44 E , Sec 3.

This project would replace an undersized, partial fish passage barrier with a properly sized open arch or box culvert. A slight channel relocation would occur to fit the new culvert.

Poison Ivy control at 92 campsites along the Snake River corridor using approved herbicides.

Analysis of proposal for Forest Service to collaborate with Wallowa Lake State Park in designating a user created trail a connector trail between the State Park and National Forest.

Improve winter range for elk by installing approximately 1 mile of wire fence connecting 3 gates that are consistently breached during seasonal closures.

To enhance fish habitat for salmonids by creating active and available floodplain, relocating channel, enhancing side channels and existing channel, enhancing floodplain roughness, enhancing riparian and upland vegetation and wetlands.

Repair post-fire flood damage to FSR 6015 by raising the roadbed above the adjacent ephemeral stream and out of the floodplain.

Permit renewal for maintaining and operating two spring water boxes and water pipe lines to supply spring water to adjacent private land.

This project would replace an undersized and partial fish passage barrier with a properly sized open arch culvert on NFS Road 5175 to provide adequate fish passage for all life stages.

Reforestation across approximately 2800 acres of lands that experienced high levels of tree mortality as a result of the 2016 Rail Fire. Activities include hand planting of native tree species utilizing seed sources collected from the local area.

Small timber sale to promote resiliency in the Spring Creek area using ground based systems.

Issue a new Communications Use Lease authorizing Baker County Sheriff to continue to utilize the Elkhorn Communication facility for a 20-year term, which will allow continued operation and maintenance of the facility.

issue a Special Use Permit for a term of 20 years that authorizes Idaho Power to occupy and use National Forest System lands for the purpose of operation and maintenance of a 7.2 kV electric distribution line and the necessary appurtenances thereto.

This project proposes to target specific areas for commercial harvest, pre-commercial thinning/fuels reduction treatments using either manual or mechanical methods. The purpose is to create a fuels break opportunity along the 4300-250 road.

Authorize commercial livestock grazing on four allotments (Lone Pine, Cow Creek, Rhodes Creek, and Toomey Allotments) located in the lower portion of the Imnaha River.

Renewal of a special use permit for an existing fish acclimation site on the Upper Grande Ronde River.

This fuels reduction project is located within the Granite Creek Watershed on the Umatilla and Wallowa-Whitman National forests and is located in Grant County, Oregon.

4.5 miles of the 51 road would be reconstructed. The road is narrow with blind corners and no shoulders. Lanes will be widened, sharp corners will be straightened, and the road surface will be improved.

The Whitman Ranger District is proposing maintenance burning of previously treated forested stands particularly stands in the Wildland Urban Interface portions of the District.

The project will include fish structure construction, planting, and plant protection, to provide fish passage.

Goal is to create sustainable, diverse, and resilient forest vegetation using commercial timber harvest, non-commercial thinning, fuels reduction, aspen restoration, prescribed burning and underburning.

Proposal to amend the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest Land and Resource Management Plan, as amended (Forest Plan, 1990) by adding aminopyralid to the list of herbicides approved to treat invasive plants.

It will authorize livestock grazing in Briggs and Meadow Creek Pastures in Starkey Cattle and Horse Allotment, to facilitate a grazing research study in Meadow Cr on Starkey Experimental Forest and Range. Will construct 1.5 miles of fence on Hwy 244.

The BPAs Mt. Emily facility needs reissuance of an expired permit in advance of site maintenance scheduled for the summer of 2017.

This projects purpose is to build approximately 7 miles of fence to distribute cattle away from Endangered Species Act listed critical fish habitat, along Big Sheep Creek within the Marr Flat Allotment.

Project will replace one culvert on FS Road 5175. The culvert is on a tributary to West Chicken Creek with the project objective of providing fish passage.

Issue Pine Telephone System a new Special Use Permit for a 20-year term, which will allow PTS to continue to maintain and operate the telephone lines.

Renewal of a 20-year lease that expires 12/31/2016. 3.3 miles of buried telephone line located in the East Pine Creek drainage north of Halfway, OR.
