This project proposes planting approx. 68,000 ponderosa pine and Douglas-fir seedlings on 235 acres on severely burned areas in 2022. Seedlings would be monitored for survival over the first and third years after planting.

Planting of seedlings in high severity burn areas where analysis and ground truthing show that natural recovery is unlikely to occur at all or not to within allowable management timeframes.

Approximately 150,000 lodgepole pine seedlings would be planted across 1,447 acres in 2022. Seedlings would be monitored for survival over the first and third years after planting. Areas of natural regeneration would be avoided for planting.

Salvage harvest of dead and dying fire impacted trees on up to 250 acres of lodgepole pine in the Cache La Poudre River Watershed. Harvested material is planned to be utilized as mulch source material for post fire recovery under other projects.
