Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest — Project Detail

We propose to apply prescribed fire on up to 30,000 acres of national forest system lands per year to improve native vegetation and wildlife habitats and to reduce risk of uncharacteristic wildfire.

The project proposes locatable minerals exploration drilling from approximately 6 drill sites within the Project Area. Subsequent phases could include up to an additional 9 drill sites. Total project disturbance would not exceed 15 acres on NFS lands.

Project consists of the temporary construction of up to 25 miles of new and/or reconstruction of previously reclaimed roads; construction of 250 drill sites; exploration drilling activities, and reclamation of all proposed disturbances.

Construct new 71' monopole to replace 40' lite site tower to support AT&T FirstNet communications for emergency responders. Add new 35'x12'equipment shelter.

The project proposes locatable mineral exploration drilling from approximately 17 drill sites within the Project Area. Reclamation would be completed to the standards described in 36 CFR 228 and NAC 519. Project disturbance would be less 5 acres.

1.9 acres of temporary road, acres of drill sites and sumps.

The Leviathan LEX would exchange NFS lands that are either part of or adjacent to a Superfund site. Land uses related to those lands will remain the same with a focus on remediation of the site. Lands acquired are native forest.

Implementation of new fence to facilitate better recreational opportunity on the Summit Trail and livestock management within the Rebel Creek Allotment.

The project proposes locatable mineral exploration drilling from approximately 14 drill sites within the Project Area. Reclamation would be completed to the standards described in 36 CFR 228 and NAC 519A. Project disturbance would be less 5 acres.

NEPA Analysis for the Management of the Pancake Complex Wild Horse and Burro. This includes the Monte Cristo Wild Horse and Burro Territory on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.

Reduce hazardous fuels on Forest Service land surrounding the Kyle Condos to reduce the risk of fire to the properties. Vegetation thinning will be used to create defensible spacing on FS lands adjacent to Kyle Condos.

Analyze appropriate managment levels and horse gathers on the Spring Mountains NRA and the Southern NV BLM District.

Construction project to provide a fire-fighting facility for a more rapid and effective response to wildland fires in the southern and western portions of the SMNRA as well as the southern portion of the Las Vegas Interagency Reponse area.

202 acres of salvage harvest. 101 acres of roadside hazard tree removal. 303 acres of prescribed burning. 202 acres of planting. 1,815 acres of seeding

The US Forest Service is proposing to purchase and install two single riser vault restroom buildings and a single, triple-panel informational kiosk in Scotts Lake dispersed camping area as well as two, two-panel kiosk in faith valley

Locatable mineral exploration project located in the Toquima Range. Construction of 19 drill sites with sump pits, construction of temporary exploration access roads, and a laydown yard. Some trees will be cut as part of road construction.

Upgrade County Road access to Bald Mountain Mine. Approximately 14 miles of road along Elko County Road #719 and White Pine County Road #1000. Approximately 4 miles will be on National Forest System Land.

Proposed activities include drilling initial exploration core and reverse circulation rotary holes at 12 drill sites.

The Pickel Meadow restoration project will reactivate the alluvial fan at the upstream end of the meadow, repair a diversion structure within the meadow, and improve aquatic habitat within the West Walker River.

Reduce pinyon-juniper fuels within 1000 feet of private residences.

This project proposes to drill a test well as a preliminary assessment to determine if sufficient groundwater is accessible in the proposed location to be used for the future Mountain Springs Fire Complex.

The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest proposes to reconstruct and maintain existing trails surrounding the SMVG.USFS designated trails receiving maintenance will include the Kunav Huveep, Acastus, Rat Pack, & Escarpment Trails.

The project would gather and remove excess wild horses from within and adjacent to the Little Fish Lake Joint Management Area which includes portions of the Austin-Tonopah Ranger District.

Install subsurface broadband conduit and fiber,network repeater hubs,vaults and a 10'x10' paved shoulder pullout within highway right of way shoulder at various locations along a 1-mile section of SR89 to provide broadband to underserved communities.

The proposed project would protect intact wet meadow and restore hydrologic function and ecological complexity of Grouse meadow. The approach seeks to remove source problems, promote natural processes, and reverse the existing degradation trends.

The project proposes locatable mineral exploration drilling from approximately 67 drill pads and would include 4,180 feet of exploration trenches, 0.45 miles of new temporary road and 1.99 miles of overland travel to accomplish the project.

Authorize sheep grazing on Lower Mary's River and Willow Creek grazing allotments.

Minerals Exploration Project to be conducted for up to one year following Project start-up (including earthwork reclamation and seeding). Use of existing access and the construction of temporary exploration road, drill pads, sumps and a staging area.

Multi-Year minerals exploration project with a maximum total area of new disturbance of 42.94 acres on USFS lands and 5.84 acres on private lands (49 acres). Additional 1.22 acres of existing unreclaimed area used for staging equipment.

The proposed action for this right-of-way includes the construction activities and operations associated with the development of an approx 450-mile-long buried fiber optic line from Reno to Las Vegas including 5 miles on the Forest Service.

This project is designed in improve sage brush habitats for BSSG, as well as reduce fuels within the WUI, and improve forest health through removing expanding PJ woodlands and thinning established PJ forests.

Radius Gold Inc. proposes exploration drilling for locatable minerals from 22 constructed drill pads on the west flack of Spring Peak, Mineral County, NV. Duration of the project is less than one year.

Minerals exploration project in the Toquima Range. Seven drill sites on FS administered land

Drill boreholes using reverse-circulation or core methods to expected depths of 500-1,500 ft at up to 15 sites and construct up to 5,000 ft of new, temporary road. The drill pads and new roads would be recontoured and seeded upon project completion.

Drill mineral exploration boreholes at 3 sites, with no new road construction.

Exploration drilling project, 8 proposed drill holes all on existing disturbance, no new road construction, widening or maintenance proposed.

Drill one or more boreholes at 4 sites and construct about 600 feet of new temporary road. Existing roads and 5,000 feet of overland travel will provide access.

Installation and maintenance of 2 streamflow gaging stations on Wolf Creek and the East Fork of the Carson River above Silver Creek. The stations would include a data logger, battery, solar panel, and sensor for measurments indise waterproof box.

Guided mountaIn biking trips in the Eastern Sierra. Both day trips and overnight trips would be provided.

The project would stabilize existing sediments adjacent to past archeological and paleontological excavations from further damage by backfilling pits and trenches with rock and soil material adjacent to the excavations and outside of the alcove.

This project will protect and restore habitat for the Mt Charleston blue butterfly through increasing larval host and nectar plants, restoration of degraded habitat, protection of habitat from high severity wildfire and treatment of invasive plants.

Locatable exploration project in the Toquima Range. Construction of seven (7) drill sites with 14,250 feet of overland travel on existing tracks. No new road construction, reconstruction, or timber cutting is proposed within the project area.

The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is preparing an environmental assessment addressing forest restoration and fuels reduction activities on National Forest System lands currently authorized for training at the Mountain Warfare Training Center.

Planting of sagebrush and bitterbrush seedlings within the burned areas.

Brush mowing and tree cutting along the Lamoille Road Corridor to reduce fuels. This is a follow-up to work done in 2015.

Proposal expands the existing Green Springs project area by 2,532 acres from 801 acres to 3,333 acres. Exploration work would consist of exploring for locatable minerals over the next 10 years.

Installation, operation, maintenance and removal of five precipitation gages and two stream gages.

The proposed action is to remove and relocate approx 650 feet of the existing Angel Peak 401 on-ground powerline on the north side of Angel Peak, approx 100 feet south, into an underground trench with vault buried under an existing paved road.

Installation of two SNOTEL sites - one at Willow Flat and one at Lost Lakes

Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite research that will measure water surface elevation and inundation extent of water bodies.

Construct 120kV transmission line connecting the Bordertown and California substations.

The purpose of this analysis is to update current management to provide for integrated and timely management of invasive species, now and in the future, with the goal of promoting healthy and thriving native plant communities across the HTNF.

Preparation of EIS to analyze the effects of Phase I of a Master Development Plan for the Lee Canyon Ski Resort.

Site prep and construction of a roofed Dance Floor Pavilion and an in-ground erosion control device to protect a camp service road and gabion wall from monsoon flood damage

Locatable mineral exploration project located in the southern Monitor Range mostly within the George's Canyon IRA. Project activities include construction of 31 drill sites with sump pits and construction of two 100' stretches of access roads.

The purpose of the spring enhancement project is to improve habitat conditions for Railroad Valley spring fish, a Federally Threatened protected species under the Endangered Species Act.

Originally scoped as Project #6399. Installation of two single vault toilets in Lamoille Canyon near the Right Fork Dispersed Camping Area.

Project Cancelled - Project is being split into two separate projects.

This project will remove conifers from about 2,200 acres of sagebrush ecosystems in the Bodie Hills within California to improve habitat for the Bi-State sage-grouse.

Post-fire restoration to focus on fuels reduction, reforestation, and revegetation on approximately 3,000 acres within the Tamarack fire. Located in Alpine County, California.

The Poeville Fire burned approximately 2,900 acres in June 2020 and resulted in the loss of crucial winter range. Past fires in the area have diminished habitat availability and habitat quality. The project would improve degraded habitat.

The Forest Service is proposing to construct 3. 7 miles of wide of new trail which will connect the James Lee County Park, and Jacks Valley School Trail Heads to the Clear Creek Trail system.

Collect soil samples at 8 bore locations, 0.057 acre per drill site and 0.23 miles overland travel to bore sites for hydrogeological and geotechnical data to support engineering design for powerline structures.

The project covers drilling exploration core drill holes from a maximum of thirty-three (33) separate drill sites/pads on NFS-managed lands. Up to five (5) drill holes are proposed for each pad

The Proposed Action include drilling exploration core drill holes from sixteen (16) separate drill sites/pads on National Forest System land.

Replace existing solar array with an approximately 16'x 44'solar array to facilitate collocation of AT&T/FirstNet equipment. Solar replacement is within existing disturbed area, no vegetation removal, no new access roads.

Remove and replace Chair Lift No. 2 at the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort.

Installation, operation, and maintenance of a fiber optic cable along Twin lakes road to Hackamore place.

Construction of 11 exploration drill sites, from which each constructed site a core drill will be utilized to drill one to three exploration drill holes. Drilling will be accomplished with a modular helicopter-portable core drill rig

Proposal is to convert 4 sheep allotments into 2 Cattle allotments and authorize cattle grazing in these two allotments.

Approximately 5,300 acres, the project consists of vegetation treatments in forest corridors adjacent to Nevada Energy transmission power lines. Improves wildlife habitat, forest health, and fuel reduction. COMMENT PERIOD BEGINS 11/20/20.

Bore a single 4-7" diameter hole 30'deep for geotechnical investigation to support engineering design for communication tower improvements.

Construction, operation, and maintenance of new aerial fiber on existing pole and underground fiber within an existing conduit.

Proposal is to implement targeted grazing treatments on three sites. This study is designed to reduce litter cover and depth and decrease quantity and quality of invasive annual grass germination sites across the landscape.

Install 4 Remote Automated Weather Stations (RAWS) to collect weather and climate data to support training and air operations at MWTC. Leavitt lake site will serve the Bridgeport Avalanche Center in safety messages for backcountry use.

Road maintenance station to support highway maintenance on State Route 225 near Mountain City, Nevada.

Project located near Jerritt Canyon Mine. About 500 acres of temporary road and drill pad disturbance are proposed. Concurrent reclamation would require same amount of existing disturbance at the mine site to be recontoured prior to new disturbance

Newcrest Resources Inc. proposes to conduct a one year exploration drilling program which would include construction of 15 drill sites adjacent to Jarbidge, NV. No road or other exploration construction is proposed.

Newcrest Resources proposes a 10 year minerals exploration project. Phase 1 of the project will include up to 22 drill sites, one temporary aquatic organism passage culvert, six miles of temporary road and 23.98 acres of surface disturbance.

Proponent proposes to expand the existing clay mine. One pit would be expanded and one new pit developed. clay would be trucked off forest to a rail siding in Wabuska.

The Proposed Action consists of 11 exploration drill sites, from which each constructed site a core drill will be utilized to drill one to three exploration drill holes. This will be a helicopter supported operation with no new roads constructed.

Locatable minerals exploration project in the Independence Mountains. Ten drill sites (8 on NFS 2 on private lands), access will be on existing roads and reopened reclaimed roads. Proposed disturbance of 3.0 acres. All disturbance will be reclaimed.

The replacement of existing wood poles with steel/ductile iron poles on eight three-pole or H-frame structures on the 112 Buckeye to Stateline 120kV transmission line.

The overall project purpose is to improve the quality of rural broadband in Nevada, California, and Oregon and provide connectivity between regional hubs.

Project is a duplicate of #62196.

Protection and restoration of habitat for two species of butterflies endemic the Spring Mountains.

University of Nevada proposes to install virtual fencing system for cattle grazing on the Cottonwood Creek Allotment. System consists of placing two small towers to communicate signals between collars and computer. Each tower is 42" x 37".

The remediation plan is to consolidate the waste at each portion of the site and cover it with approximately two feet of soil, mounding as needed so surface water runs off. At UVC there will be a berm to direct surface water away from the mound.

Hazardous fuels reduction and vegetation management within the analysis area located along the Mount Rose Highway corridor. Proposed treatments include mechanical, prescribed fire, and biomass utilization of firewood through the local community.

Placement of new SNOTEL Site by NRCS.

The SMNRA is proposing to make improvements to structures and facilities at the Organization Camp.

Proposed treatments include mechanical (mastication and/or chipping), hand (chainsaws and/or handtools), prescribed fire (broadcast and/or pile), and biomass utilization of firewood through the local community.

Construction, operation and maintenance of a 1,341ft. long, 25kVA underground powerline that would parallel an existing road to serve a single-family residence.

The Forest is proposing disposal of property located in Carson City, Nevada. The property would be sold through an online auction conducted by the General Services Administration.

Locatable mineral exploration project in southern Monitor Range. Construction of twenty-one (21) drill sites with 1,083 feet of travel on existing roads. No new road construction, reconstruction, or timber cutting is proposed within project area.

Mineral exploration project in southern Shoshone Mountains. Construction of ten (10) drill sites and 4,440 feet of road construction or reconstruction.

In partnership with Nevada Department of Wildlife, aerially seed 7,165 acres over a 9,852-acre area on the Mountain City Ranger District with a native seed mix to restore habitat for greater sage-grouse and mule deer.

The Carson Ranger District proposes to construct approx. 9.1 miles of new, non-motorized trail in the Jacks Valley Area. The new trail would connect the Jacks Valley North TH to James Lee County Park with an optional loop to Plymouth Work Center.

Replacement of a pipeline that is degrading due to the placement on top of the soil surface.

Replacement of an existing livestock pipeline, approximately 7 miles in length. New pipeline will be buried in existing roads.

Reduce fuels on approximately 15 acres of a 40 acre parcel. Project activities include mastication on up to 15 acres although hand thinning, and chipping may occur on some areas too rocky or inaccessible for mastication. Some seeding may also occur.

Reissue permits to Bridgeport Fire Protection District for volunteer fire station and Las Vegas Metro Police for substation building.

Authorization for ingress and egress only on Forest Road 41039A Mine Road Spur A, for seasonal access to a private land for construction and access of a single family residence.

Truckee River Flood Management, flood monitoring devices, avalanche control system (gazex)

Remove/replace the existing 30ft. tall lattice tower with a 100ft. tall tower. The tower would be installed in the same location with a slightly larger footprint. Add 6 by 6 prefabricated equipment shelter.

Renew permits for the Jarbidge Helipad and solid waste transfer station.

Rebuild approximately 9.23 mile, 60 kilovolt (kV) transmission line within the existing right-of-way between the Voltaire Substation in Carson City, Nevada and Glenbrook Substation, Douglas County, Nevada.

This project will involve the construction of approximately 10.5 Miles of fence adjacent to US Highway 6 near Currant Summit. This Project will create a large riparian exclosure along Currant Creek and reduce potential safety concerns.

Renew sewer permits to Clark County School District, Douglas County School District, South Tahoe Public Utility District.

Renew 5 expired authorizations for existing water storage and water transmission lines to Indian Hills General Improvement District, Truckee Meadows Water Authority, Rosemount Water Co. and Douglas County.

National Gold Mining Corporation proposes to conduct a ten year exploration drilling program on Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and private lands located in the historic National Mining District, Santa Rosa Mountain Range, Nevada.

Proposal to construct 7 miles of a new non-motorized multi-use single-track trail segment between Marlette Peak and Snow Valley peak at the crest of the Carson Range.

Installation of new grounding system for the existing building.

Installation of an upgraded lightening protection system.

This project will remove pinyon and juniper from approximately 875 acres of sagebrush ecosystems along the California/Nevada border at Jackass Flat to improve habitat for the Bi-State sage-grouse.

Create new, sustainable parking area and trailhead and by designing and constructing a new access trail and vault toilet. Project includes hillside-stabilization and erosion-control measures, new interpretive signs and displays.

Proposal to construct 2 miles of a new non-motorized single-track trail segment, rerouting and converting 2 miles of user-created single-track trail segments and decommission user-created trails. 4 new miles of trail will be added, or 2 acres.

The FS proposes to approve the NV Dept of Transportation to replace the existing shelter for their avalanche control equipment off HWY 431 near Mt. Rose summit.

This project is being proposed to rebuild burned structures and infrastructure that was damaged or burned down during the Range Two Fire in 2018. Including lodge and A-Frame cabins.

The project proposes (OHV) and Watershed Improvement management actions on National Forest System lands including changes to the NFTS, realignment, decommission and restoration of routes, construction of motorized trail, and staging area creation.

Construction of approximately 1 mile over powerline ( both underground and overhead) to provide power to private land inholdings. This new line will replace an overhead line that was burned in the Brown's Gulch wildland fire.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife has proposed to restore Lahontan cutthroat trout (LCT) in two stream systems within the Arc Dome Wilderness. In order to reintroduce LCT, non-native fish will be removed via chemical treatment.

The project proposes locatable minerals exploration drilling from approximately eight drilling sites within the Project Area.

The Forest Service proposes to remove pinyon pine and juniper on up to 17,000 acres within the Indian Valley project area. Treatment would be done on foot using chainsaws and other hand tools. No vehicles or mechanized equipment would be operated off

Construct BDAs, log structures or rock features in or near channel to restore hydrology and stream function due to historic actions including roadbeds on apprx 1 mi of West Carson River. Includes maintenance of FS Rd 081 to improve drainage.

The Forest Service will update the Monte Cristo Wild Horse and Burro Territory Management Plan to include strategies to maintain the herd into the future at AML and to compliment the BLM's management of the Pancake Wild Horse and Burro Complex.

USFS proposal to reauthorize livestock grazing analysis on 8 cattle allotments on the Santa Rosa Ranger District using updated proper use criteria. 10/30/09 ROD was remanded in part. Forest will prepare a Supplement containing additional analysis.

The purpose for this project is to restore stand health, reduce wildfire severity, promote under story regeneration in sage-steppe, mountain shrub, mixed conifer, and aspen communities and imrpove wildlife habitat and help create defensiable space.

Proposed activities include dry auger exploration of placer deposits from 139 closely-spaced test sites. Depth of individual penetrations are not to exceed 30 feet. Existing, Forest Service system and non-system roads will be utilized for access.

Construction, operation and maintenance of new telecommunication facilities and the removal of existing facilities at Leviathan Peak Communication Site.

Reauthorize grazing on the Leviathan and Campbell-Loope Sheep and Goat allotments and close 3 vacant cattle and horse allotments: Mud Lake, Barber, and Double Springs.

The Forest Service proposes to amend the Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe special use permit to authorize downhill skiing and associated improvements in the Atoma area and construction of a water tank on the westernmost portion of the permit boundary.

The proposal is to authorize the relocation of telecommunication equipment from Camp Foxtail to Camp Lee by replacing 2,100 feet of aerial telephone cable and 415 feet of underground cable to a forest service facility.

Exploration drilling program in the southern Monitor Range includes installation of 1 water production well, 4 groundwater monitoring wells, 4 geotechnical borings and 12 exploration drill holes. One acre of total disturbance is anticipated.

OceanaGold US Holdings Inc proposes drilling reverse-circulation drill holes from 24 sites on NFS lands on western flank of Spring Peak. Purpose is to explore for presence of locatable minerals. Duration of project and reclamation less than 1 year.

FS will prepare a Wilderness Management Plan for the Mt. Charleston Wilderness Area in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management.

The project consists of hand cutting all Phase I Pinyon and Juniper (P/J), Thinning/Piling/Burning of Phase II and III P/J.

Exploration Project in the Paradise Range. This project replaces the previously authorized Big Springs Gold Plan of Operations which expired prior to project implementation. 17 constructed drill sites, temporary road, overland travel for access

Exploration drilling for locatable minerals in the Wilson Mining District. Activities would include drilling (a)4 groundwater exploration wells(b)9 mineral exploration holes(c)6 geotechnical engineering auger holes(d)11 test pits for soil evaluation.

Clean up the fire debris in early May, 2019 (following the USFS site visit/approval) and be working on the foundation in May and June. We would begin building the cabin kit in August and have it weather-tight by October.

Within the project area there is a need to reduce fuels, maintain and restore aspen, mt mahogany and limber pine communities. This project will treat approximately 5,000 acres of pinyon-juniper and white fir within a larger 25,000 acres project area

Authorize Frontier California, Inc to bury approximately 478 feet of fiber optic cable/copper telephone into a PVC conduit, 2ft wide, 3ft. deep within a 10 foot wide right of way. Two 4ft. x 4ft. bore pits would facilitate boring the conduit.

Proposed use of prescribed fire and mechanical and hand treatments to reduce hazardous fuels across approximately 700 acres located in and adjacent to wildland urban interface (WUI).
